Spent my Sunday evening jotting down my thoughts on why the government narrative was never likely to cut through, and why the polls are probably not going to shift dramatically:

If the few remaining Tory supporters have surveyed the last four weeks and come to the conclusions laid out in this article, they actually will be out of power for decades
Disclaimer: I am on this site because it is expected of UK MPs, however to be clear, the owner of the platform El0n Mu$k isn't fit to run a village fete raffle, never mind an international social media platform. An awful human being.
Spoke to @BBCNewsnight last night about why I think it would be a mistake to use the riots as the basis for a conversation about people’s disillusionment with politics or concerns about immigration - blurring them risks giving credence to/excusing thuggery.
'The more violent our opponents are and the more they hate us, the more we should try to appease them' maybe isn't the brilliant political strategy you think it is
Starmer is PM now, not leader of the opposition. Wading in with political attacks (especially with a group that gives Farage a +70 approval rating and Starmer a -60 approval rating) isn’t going to do anything to calm the violence.
@adarkelimited I would want all of those before the end of the window, but I think we need at least one CM before the weekend if we want any chance of even holding Leeds to a draw
Personally I feel pretty relaxed about Pompey’s transfer situation.
Cullen and Hughes done nothing so far to suggest we can’t trust their way of working.
Trust the process.
Let’s see where we are come close of window.
Up the Blues 🔵
@LukeEllisPUP Everything in Hughes' career so far suggests he knows how the transfer market works. Our best signings have been the left-field names that everyone has moaned about when they were announced. Trust the process.
@LostTransport The only thing today's debate has highlighted, as far as I am concerned, is that the 'men are men, women are women, biology is simple and always binary' argument is as nonsensical as it ever has been.
I'm glad we're having one of those days on here where the Biological Science Enjoyers of the journalism world are here sharing their literal minutes' worth of research on an incredibly complex and sensitive issue. One of those days where you wish for the heat death of Twitter.
@LostTransport Whilst I am very aware that I am in no way qualified to pronounce on this subject, the evidence being presented does not seem to definitely prove anything - there seems to be no conclusive proof that they are male, female, intersex, or anything in between.
Boxers: ‘I dunno man she’s just a pretty good boxer’
Boxing analysts: ‘yeah, she really doesn’t historically have stopping power in her punches’
People who don’t watch boxing: ‘this is some Ivan Drago motherfucker who’s out here risking killing people somehow’
I get this argument but look at everything else that's happened this month. The mess in the national accounts, the pay decision, record small boat numbers, people having to be let out of prison.
I think all these problems would have outweighed benefits of a 0.25% rate cut.
@adarkelimited@pn_neil_allen I know it's unfair to judge when he never got a proper run of games, but my assumption is the injuries took more toll than has been let on. Every time he did play he moved like the legs weren't moving as quick as his brain thought they should be. Like running through treacle.
