Since the week leading up to Charlie’s death, I have had vivid dreams. They have been unceasing.

I think the core point Eric is making is one Scripture has always been clear about: when we choose sin, we don’t choose in a vacuum — we choose consequences. Sin is never neutral. It always distorts, diminishes, and redirects us away from God’s design, even when it promises meaning or freedom.

What often gets lost in these conversations is that condoning, legalizing, or redefining sin doesn’t make it less destructive — it only makes us less honest about the damage it does. Calling sin something else doesn’t heal people; it leaves them trapped in it.

There is only one true moral authority — God Himself. As Creator, He alone defines what is good, what is harmful, and what leads to life. Until any of us can create a universe out of nothing, we don’t get to override His moral order. We are accountable to it, whether we acknowledge it or not.

At the same time, it’s important to remember this too: the gospel doesn’t begin with condemnation of people, but with clarity about sin and an invitation to repentance and life. Jesus never denied sin — but He always offered a way out of it.

Everyone needs Jesus — not because they’re worse than others, but because all of us are broken in different ways. When a society searches for meaning apart from God, it will always invent substitutes — and those substitutes will always fall short.

Truth spoken without love hardens hearts.

God gives us both — because He wants restoration, not destruction.
