The Madlanga Commission will today (Wednesday) shift its focus to alleged hit squads operating in KwaZulu-Natal and consisting of members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) who allegedly commit extra-judicial killings. These โhit squadsโ allegedly target suspects in Cash-In-Transit (CIT) robberies, as well as taxi operators and drug syndicates under the guise of a Task Team.
The first witness in this new theme will appear before the Commission when it resumes at 0930.
I am SICK and TIRED of government asking the poorest & most vulnerable people to stand up against ARMED gangsters.
The government is asking poor people to be shot, knifed and killed.
The police and the State are failing people.
Stop putting the poor in the firing line!

@PieterDuToit How is Luther Lebelo still allowed to work with the state after the damning state capture findings @GaytonMcK? Nugent found him to be one of the chief architects of wrongdoing at SARS
If this is true, then it is truly shocking. Only in Zimbabwe could a 22-year-old side chick of the Presidentโs son end up with properties reportedly worth around US$7 million, with no publicly traceable sources of income to explain such wealth and no evidence presented that taxes were paid to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA), yet nothing happens.
The only reason the public has apparently learnt about this extraordinary accumulation of property is because she has been caught up in a fight involving members of the Presidentโs family. Otherwise, we might never have known about it.
Now, the critical-thinking question Zimbabweans should be asking is if a 22-year-old outsider allegedly connected to the Presidentโs son can accumulate properties worth around US$7 million without any publicly known business empire or income streams capable of explaining such wealth, then how much wealth are the principal figures around this government accumulating?
If someone so young and so far removed from the centre of political power can allegedly accumulate US$7 million worth of property, what does that tell us about the scale of wealth being accumulated by those who actually control the levers of the State?
These are precisely the circumstances in which institutions such as ZIMRA and the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission should be asking basic questions. Where did the money come from? What legitimate income generated it? Were the appropriate taxes paid? And can the acquisition of these properties be reconciled with declared and lawful sources of income?
That is what functioning institutions are supposed to do in a functional country, but we all know that it will not happen, and the opposition, which is supposed to be doing this, is busy chasing its own crumbs.
๐ฅ THEY CALLED ME A CAPITALIST, BEFORE I WAS EVEN EXECUTIVE MAYOR!
A few days before our first Council meeting, while coalition talks were still underway, the EFF held a media briefing in Alexandra and declared that there was a โsmallanyanaโ problem that needed to be resolved before they could agree to the coalition. That problem was me. They called me a capitalist.
However, I was eventually given the mandate to lead and I got straight to work. I restored Joburgโs economic engine, attracted investment, drove service delivery and advanced insourcing, even when my then political party lashed out at me because insourcing was not part of its policy. I did what was right for Joburg.
They had a label. I had a plan. And the results proved who was serious about rebuilding Joburg.
โ๏ธ I HAVE UNFINISHED BUSINESS.

@pierredevos If you appoint a CEO at R2m and he appoints advisers at R6m, youโve actually appointed him at a cost of R8m. Also, how is the advise about the work you do worth more than the work you do?
@ferialhaffajee 7 years later this man is still signing with no care for the law and failing his fiduciary duties as it was found by Nugent.there will be a commission after this administration #NSFAS#MadlangaCommission
