@barrythrew I would argue that we are going to see new types of artists emerge that fully integrate AI into their process and push the medium in new and surprising directions. This is a pattern that’s happened many times in response to new technology.
Introducing Make-A-Video3D! Generating 3D dynamic (mini) scenes from input text.
That is, text --> 4D!
Needs no 4D data (i.e., no dynamic 3D data), no static 3D data, no paired text-video data.

@LivFaustDieJung If this is Manhattan, I can only encourage you to head over to Sunset Park, where you can find all the cheap but incredible Latin and Asian food you could ever want. Plenty of amazing bakeries - express stop on the N, too.
@emilstefx@Oddernod I used to make fun of it too - but I actually ended up using it on a recent project and it wasn’t too bad. Very convenient for comping footage you’re already generating in Blender - and more support and tutorials available than Fusion.
@bobgourley Biotech is the big one. Just the new discoveries of the last 10 years, applied aggressively, have the potential to drastically change what it means to be human.
@Robotbeat Had the opportunity to visit Arcosanti this summer and it was a fantastic experience. Fun fact: Arcosanti has an artist in residence program - you can live in an arcology.
@hunterw@StViateurBagel Grew up in DC. My mom was a New Jersey kid who had lived in NYC for a few years. She spent my ENTIRE DC childhood ranting about bagels and it was honestly the strangest thing. I remember always wondering “why are bagels even important?”
Seeing Guillermo Del Toro talk about AI art reminds me of how Disney animators in 1982 didn't want to work on Tron because they were afraid that computers would replace animation.

I spent a couple months on and off working in Tokyo for Mitsubishi and I find myself daydreaming of it often.
@liamwong’s photography is the only physical thing I’ve found that matches those faded memories.
His new book is a buy 😍

This is the only real way to respond to AI - experiment, discover, and adapt. Pretending that new technology can be made to disappear isn’t realistic. If you don’t, someone else will.
If there is one clear lesson about new general purpose technologies, it is that they will be used in unexpected ways.
Within just a couple weeks, AI was already being used by my students to solve all sorts of novel problems. I wrote about what that means. https://t.co/6jcb8nlNvw
