In a new piece for the @UUtah, author David Pace writes:
“If the U.S. doesn’t up its game in finding, securing, mining and processing materials from the earth that our modern civilization requires, we won’t be in a position to dictate the future direction of that civilization.”
As Pace points out later in the piece, Ionic MT is helping change the course. Our recent discovery of over 16 critical minerals and rare earths at our Silicon Ridge, Utah turns the page on the American mineral story and shows how Utah will lead the charge in taking back control of the resources we need for our future.
But a discovery is only half the story. We must continue to invest in the next generation of technical experts who will build their careers getting these critical resources from mine to market.
Institutions like U of U are cultivating an unmatched, high-skilled local workforce that guaranteed to set Utah apart. When combined with our state’s unique geology and strong industry environment, you end up with the ideal foundation for America’s next strategic rare earth and critical mineral resource hub.
Utah’s role will be as critical as the minerals themselves.

An eye-opening piece in @Bloomberg last week highlights the serious challenges the U.S. faces in its effort to secure reliable supplies of essential rare earth elements.
As @Bloomberg reports, we’re facing a staggering 82% supply deficit for heavy rare earth elements produced outside China.
Currently, 4% of U.S. GDP consists of industries dependent on these elements. These industries are now particularly vulnerable as China has recently grown more confident curbing nations’ access to these resources, often times over small skirmishes or disagreements.
This is where Ionic MT can help.
Our recently-discovered domestic deposit of 16 different light and heavy rare earth elements and critical minerals offer a shovel-ready solution to America’s pressing mineral supply crunch. With a fully permitted mining site and a 74,000 sq. ft. operational processing facility in Provo, we are positioned to quickly move from pilot to production.

April 2025, China widened its export controls to include yttrium. The result: Bottlenecks that have already begun to squeeze the U.S. supplies.
While China maintains its grip on the market, the price of yttrium has surged. Exports of yttrium from China now face export case-by-case licensing reviews, meaning supplies are tighter as a foreign power gets to dictate the level of resources the U.S. can have.
According to Reuters, late last year, manufacturers were already warning of delivery delays and growing concerns that shortages could spread across aerospace, defense, and medical supply chains if new sources do not come online.
Yttrium is an essential rare earth element, found inside everything from precision-guided missile lasers, to high-temperature jet engines, and every advanced medical X-ray and MRI system.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) identifies yttrium as a "medium-to-high" supply risk mineral and without it, our most advanced hospital diagnostics and aerospace defenses go dark.
At Ionic MT, our Silicon Ridge project in Utah contains yttrium alongside 16+ critical minerals and rare earths, all recoverable from a single integrated feedstock through our proprietary zero-waste process.
As geopolitical competition intensifies and supply chains grow more fragile, building a domestic source of minerals like yttrium is no longer optional — it’s a national security imperative
One deposit. One process. A domestic answer to a foreign dependency that is no longer theoretical.

Silicon Ridge | Deep Drilling Update!
Ionic Mineral Technologies has completed five deep drill holes to approximately 500 feet at Silicon Ridge.
This program follows Phase 1, which comprised more than 100 boreholes across approximately 600 acres to depths of about 100 feet. Each of those holes terminated in mineralization, indicating that depth, rather than geology, constrained the earlier campaign.
The current deep holes were drilled within the original grid to test the vertical extent of the system. Results to date indicate that the halloysite-hosted mineralized system extends to at least 300 feet in each of the five deep holes completed to date. Elements identified in the mineralized interval include #gallium, #germanium, #rubidium, #cesium, #scandium, and a broader rare earth element suite including #yttrium, #dysprosium, Nd/Pr, and #ytterbium & #hafnium.
Together with the lateral footprint outlined to date, these results support a larger mineralized system than previously defined and will be incorporated into the project’s updated geological model and upcoming Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA).
These elements are expected to be recovered as co-products within the project’s alumina production pathway, positioning Silicon Ridge as an emerging domestic producer of both #Alumina and multiple critical minerals at a time when strengthening U.S. supply chains remains a strategic priority.
A big shoutout to the amazing #geologic #team at #IonicMT Lead by Preston Colledge.

In December 2024, China banned all germanium exports to the United States. The result: U.S. imports of germanium metal fell 67% in a single year. The price of warehouse germanium in the U.S. hit $5,675 per kilogram — up over 530% from pre-control levels — while China's domestic price sits at just $2,049/kg. That $3,626/kg spread is what a weaponized supply chain looks like in real time.
And the U.S. has zero primary germanium production. None.
This is the material inside every night vision system, every FLIR thermal targeting camera, every missile seeker head, and every satellite solar cell in the U.S. arsenal. The Department of Defense has called germanium optics "a pacing item for major weapons platforms across all the military Services."
Meanwhile, 28% of China's germanium exports now flow to Russia.
At Ionic MT, our Silicon Ridge project in Utah contains germanium alongside 16+ critical minerals and rare earths — all recoverable from a single integrated feedstock through our proprietary zero-waste process.
One deposit. One process. A domestic answer to a foreign dependency that is no longer theoretical.

The future of America's critical minerals supply chain isn't being built overseas. It's being built here — in Utah.
We were honored to host University of Utah President Taylor Randall @PresidentUofU, Nathan Callister, President of @ZionsBank, Jonathan Freedman, President of @WTCUtah, and Professor Michael Free, one of the country's foremost experts in hydrometallurgy and materials synthesis.
The conversation that followed kept landing on the same point:
Utah already has the pieces. The unique geology. The university research that translates into real process chemistry. The financial community willing to think in long cycles. The state policy environment that treats "strategic resource" as #MissionCritical.
What's been missing is proof of concept at scale.
That's what we're building.

Tungsten is a backbone of modern defense, but the U.S.’ supply remains dangerously exposed. The U.S. imports 100% of the Tungsten it needs, with most sourced from China. The situation needs to change, but that’s where Ionic MT can help.
Our Silicon Ridge site in Utah holds 16 #CriticalMinerals, including the Tungsten needed to keep the U.S. secure and sovereign. 🇺🇸

Washington is calling for a secure domestic supply chain to break our reliance on foreign critical minerals – and Utah is answering.
A new Deseret News op-ed from National Mining Association President and CEO Rich Nolan highlights what’s increasingly clear: global conflict is exposing the risks of depending on overseas supply chains for the materials that power our defense systems, energy grid, and advanced technologies.
That’s not just an economic issue, it’s a national security vulnerability.
But the solution isn’t theoretical. It’s already taking shape. In Utah, a state with a long track record of responsible resource development, the foundation for a more secure domestic supply chain is being built today. At Ionic Mineral Technologies, we are turning Utah’s unique geology into a strategic advantage.
Our Silicon Ridge deposit contains 16 critical and rare earth minerals essential to modern industry. And because we operate on state-managed lands, we’ve been able to move at speed – fully permitted, scalable, and shovel-ready. While others are still navigating years-long permitting timelines, we’re primed to begin processing materials at our 84,000-square-foot facility in Provo.
Utah brings together the workforce, infrastructure, and pro-growth environment needed to lead, and deliver, a true home-field advantage for American supply chains.

We had the honor of hosting Congressman @BurgessOwens at Ionic MT. He spent time with our team and toured our 74,000 sq ft processing facility in Provo, where we’re working to rebuild U.S. capability in critical minerals and rare earth processing.
The issue is straightforward: demand is rising across defense, tech, and energy, yet the U.S. still relies heavily on imported materials and offshore processing. With a shovel ready mining site and an operational facility already in place, we’re focused on execution—building a durable domestic pathway from resource to product.
Thank you, Congressman, for your federal and state leadership and for taking the time to see the work happening here in #Utah.
Also, thank you for letting us wear your Super Bowl Championship Ring! How cool is that??

Here are a few words from our Founder, Andre Zeitoun.
Washington is shifting from talking about critical minerals to building a system that makes domestic production investable. That shift is everything, and this week has brought key policy proposals into focus.
My years in finance—in restructuring, stressed assets, and specialty materials—taught me one indelible lesson: capital doesn’t move without downside protection.
In critical minerals, the biggest risk isn’t geology—it’s economics. Specifically, the risk that once American producers come online, China floods the market and wipes out margins before projects reach scale. We’ve seen this movie before.
That’s why proposals like price floors, strategic stockpiles, and long-term federal purchasing commitments are so critical. They aren’t about “picking winners.” They’re about neutralizing dumping risk and creating the price stability private capital requires.
Our government alone can’t fund an entire domestic supply chain. To build the mines, processing plants, and downstream manufacturing we need, private investors must believe today’s policy support won’t vanish with the next news cycle—or the next administration.
What’s encouraging is that these proposals are being designed across the entire critical minerals list, not just rare earths. That signals a push to build a full domestic supply chain, not just rescue individual projects.
At Ionic Mineral Technologies, where we hold a scalable, shovel-ready deposit in Utah with 16 unique rare earth and critical minerals, we applaud this approach. The goal isn’t to replace markets—it’s to protect them long enough for a U.S. supply chain to exist at all.
If America wants secure access to the materials that power AI, defense systems, batteries, and advanced manufacturing, then stability is not a luxury. It’s a prerequisite.
The real test will be whether these policies unlock private capital at scale and remain durable long enough for projects to reach production. That’s the moment we’ll know whether this was a policy cycle or the start of an industrial rebuild.

Silicon Ridge Expanded: Consolidating a District-Scale American Critical Mineral Asset
We are proud to announce a transformative milestone for Ionic Mineral Technologies and the U.S. critical minerals supply chain.
Today, we confirmed the consolidation of our Silicon Ridge project into a contiguous 13,000-acre district following a major land grant from SITLA. This expansion includes securing lease rights along the Soldier Pass alignment, facilitating direct, optimized logistics between our mine and our Provo processing facility.
Step-Out Drilling Success: Guided by our independent QP, our recent step-out program was a definitive success.
-5/5 holes intersected the target mineralization over a mile from our core grid.
100% of holes ended in mineralization at 100ft, confirming the system remains open at depth.
✅ Interpreted mineralized footprint has doubled to ~1,400 acres for our upcoming PEA.
This is more than just land; it is a validated "IAC-Plus" system containing 16 recoverable critical elements, including Gallium, Germanium, and Heavy Rare Earths.
As we advance toward our maiden PEA in H1 2026, Silicon Ridge is rapidly maturing into a shovel-ready national reserve for the aerospace, defense, and EV sectors.
