Muhammad Rafi is one of a handful of survivors among 250 people feared dead.
He shows a photo of his friend. Still missing.
Before the boat even capsized, around 30 people had already suffocated.
Traffickers had forced passengers into storage compartments to hide them from patrols. When people begged for water, they closed the hatches.
"We were suffocating, screaming for oxygen."
Rafi's arms were burnt by hot fuel when the storm hit. He was screaming in pain. Then he lost consciousness. When he came to, he was floating in the open sea.
In the same camp, Umatara holds photos of her daughter Habiba and her grandson Muhammad Salman. They were going to Malaysia to reunite with Habiba's husband. She has heard nothing since the boat went down.
"She went only dreaming of raising a family," Umatara says. "My heart aches. It cries. I can't stand it anymore."
1.2 million Rohingya are in camps in Bangladesh right now. This is what desperation looks like when the world offers no other door.

January 26 marks #InvasionDay in present-day Australia. While the state officially celebrates Australia's National Day, marking the arrival of the First Fleet and the raising of Great Britain's flag, history shows a different story.
For First Nations and Torres Strait Islanders, this is a harrowing reminder of hundreds of years of land theft, oppression, and murder. Today Australia remains an important asset for Western imperialism and the NATO-aligned war machine led by the United States.
