Flash Dip or Full Flush? How to Tell the Difference

If you’re holding longs, this question always haunts you:

“Is this just a quick dip…or is it about to flush and murder everything?”

Here’s how I break it down using apex predator logic

1. Who benefits from this move?

Markets don’t move randomly - they move to extract capital.

Ask yourself: who’s being hunted right now?

A flash dip is a slap - it shakes out weak hands or triggers stop losses, but it doesn’t fully liquidate anyone.

A flush is surgical. It’s designed to trigger maximum forced liquidations and trap late bulls before reversing.

If there’s still big prey below the surface and the predators are actively hunting, it’s likely not over yet.

2. Funding Rates & Open Interest = Market Intent

Funding rate = cost to stay long/short in perp markets.

If funding is still positive, longs are paying to stay in = retail is still bullish.

Open Interest (OI) = total outstanding positions.

If OI doesn’t drop after a dip, that means no one got blown out. They’re still holding.

If funding is still positive, it usually signals bullish sentiment - especially when retail or momentum longs are pressing in.

True flushes nuke OI and flip funding negative. That’s the kill zone.

3. Shape and Speed of Price Action

Flash dips are fast, sharp, and often bounce hard. Think v-shape or quick wick below a key level.

Flushes bleed down over time, then capitulate. The bounce is slower, usually only once shorts pile in and become the new prey.

If price just wicked down and bounced with no fear spike, it was probably a flash.

4. Liquidation Map Tells All

Use tools like Coinglass.

You’ll see where the liquidation clusters are - those big target zones.

If we dip and don’t touch those areas, it’s likely bait.

If we wipe them out, then reverse - the flush has played out.

Remember: apex predators don’t just nibble. They go where the food is.

Final Lesson:

Don’t just react to candles.

Learn to read the apex pattern.
Flash = panic bait.
Flush = soul harvest.
Know the difference, or you’ll end up being the prey.
