Important request from the President of @incIndia. One key additional detail is the request to consult state governments. The states are vital stakeholders in this exercise and no delimitation should be proposed without taking their views into account.
In my intervention during the parliamentary debate on delimitation in the Lok Sabha, in April 2026, I had called for a “grand National consultation” on the issue before something of such portentous significance was finally decided. It is truly deplorable that the government is proceeding in a clandestine manner to achieve its goals without any such national consultation taking place.
There is not a single airport in India named after Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru the freedom fighter who played a pivotal role in realizing the vision of India as a democratic, secular republic after Independence; who steered the country through numerous challenges and laid the foundations for its development in a manner that became a model for the world; and who is remembered as one of the greatest statesmen, democrats, authors, orators, and mass leaders of modern times.
Now, let me list a few airports that existed before 2014:
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport – Ahmedabad
Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport – Guwahati
Jay Prakash Narayan Airport – Patna
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport – Kolkata
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport – Mumbai
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport – Nagpur
Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport – Varanasi
Swami Vivekananda Airport – Mana, Raipur
Kempegowda International Airport – Bengaluru
There are many more.
Yes, Delhi’s airport is named after Indira Gandhi, and Hyderabad’s airport is named after Rajiv Gandhi. Both served as Prime Ministers of India, and both were assassinated while serving the cause of preserving the unity and integrity of the nation.
The same man who mocked “dynastic politics” had the world’s largest cricket stadium renamed after himself. The venue, previously known as the Sardar Patel Stadium, now bears his name.

Irony just died again. The cleanest man in Indian politics did not need an SC certificate of his integrity. Instead it is those who sought to implicate him in these charges who ought to be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.
One of the best Prime Ministers India has ever witnessed, a well qualified and educated financial expert, Dr Manmohan Singh said "History will be kinder to me than the contemporary media" and it is proven!

Delighted that this request of mine to honour the legendary #SriKarunakaraGuru of Thiruvananthapuram has been approved by the Government of India. My thanks to @JM_Scindia who promptly acceded to our request for a meeting and discussion with representatives of @santhigirinews including @Swamigururetnam to make the case for this decision. 🙏🏼
The forceful detention of @RahulGandhi, @Priyanka Gandhi, @yadavakhilesh and other Opposition leaders during their protest is a severe affront to our democracy. Physical aggression against a peaceful protest is completely unjustifiable. An accountable government listens to dissent; it does not silence it through police action. This is not the India our Constitution envisages! We must never allow this appalling conduct to become the new normal.
This tired old set of ideological cliches is all the Left can offer in response to Kerala’s visionary Budget! “The last two governments led by us, the LDF, showed that welfare, social justice and public investment can go hand in hand with economic growth and modern development.” Yes, at the cost of building up a 5.07 lakh crore debt, and borrowing money to pay salaries and Onam bonuses! When the Left tries to argue about Budgets, after their decade-long record of debt, failure, corruption, sleight-of-hand accounting and worse, one never knows whether to laugh or cry….
@vdsatheesan@INCKerala
I congratulate Chief Minister/Finance Minister @vdsatheesan for presenting a Budget that seeks to look beyond immediate challenges and position #Kerala for the future. In a period of fiscal constraints, the emphasis on long-term economic transformation deserves recognition.
What stands out is the attempt to move Kerala towards a growth model centred on investment, innovation, logistics, technology and employment creation. The focus on the #KnowledgeEconomy, #SpaceEconomy and #Aviation sectors reflects an understanding of where future opportunities lie.
#MissionSamudra is among the most ambitious ideas in the Budget. By linking ports, logistics, manufacturing, waterways and coastal livelihoods, it recognises Kerala's coastline as a strategic economic asset rather than merely a geographical feature.
I am particularly encouraged by the emphasis on #research, #innovation and the space sector. Kerala possesses unique strengths in science and technology, and the Budget rightly seeks to build a growth strategy around them.
The recognition of the #SilverEconomy is also noteworthy. Kerala's demographic realities require innovative responses, and treating ageing not merely as a challenge but also as an opportunity is a forward-looking approach.
No Budget is perfect, and implementation will ultimately determine its success. But the vision outlined today—of a Kerala driven by knowledge, innovation, logistics and sustainable growth—provides a strong foundation for the years ahead.

Joining my fellow Keralites in mourning the passing of Salim Kumar. I had met him a couple of times and found him just as delightful as in his many film roles. A real talent and a wonderful human being. 🕉️ शांति!
Come on, @Ram_Guha, this is a bit much. What experience did Barack Obama, a first-term Senator from Illinois, have in world affairs when he became President of the most powerful country on earth, while it was caught up in multiple global issues? For that matter, how much international exposure did the CM of Gujarat have to manage India’s International relationships? @RahulGandhi has led a national party for a dozen years. He has extensive contacts with leaders around the world and no shortage of advisers inside and outside his party. No President or PM handles crises alone; that’s why he heads a government! I think it’s time to put this overblown controversy to rest.
My latest #TharoorThink column in the @IndianExpress is an open letter to the GenZ supporters of the #CockroachJantaParty. They don’t have to accept that label or be defined by it. Here’s what they can do:
I’m incredibly intrigued by the rise of #CockroachJantaParty, which has already reached more than 15 million followers on @Instagram in just five days.
I understand the frustrations of the youth and see why they are resonating with it. This is precisely why the account being withheld on X is disastrous and deeply unwise - there should be an outlet for the youth to express their feelings and so, let CJP’s account function instead of shutting it down! Democracies need outlets for dissent, humour, satire and even frustration.
I am uncertain about the future of this movement but I hope the youngsters behind it find a way to bring this energy into mainstream politics or perhaps express it through their vote to be a voice of change and in doing so, become impossible to ignore. This is an opportunity that the Opposition must seize.
