@grid_dragon@DaveKaval I can be patient because the pandemic has caused a lot of uncertainty, but at this point I just want something to get done so we can move on and not have to make excuses.
That way everyone can put their money where their mouth is.
@OakStadiumWatch I wouldn't be surprised if there are clubs that make similar decisions after the draft. They aren't being let go, but there is no demand for them right now.
This at least allows them to retain their benefits and collect unemployment.
@jay120j@OakStadiumWatch An even worse horror story is "Lets follow the Raiders to Las Vegas."
And the ultimate nightmare is "Lets share the Raiders new stadium in Las Vegas."
@Jack_Dubyaa@OakStadiumWatch Now if we're talking about how the organization is run, which we're not, I'm like every other A's fan. I want to see it change.
I understand that it isn't as easy as we like to make it out to be, however, and because of the situation I'm willing to be patient.
@Jack_Dubyaa@OakStadiumWatch I am not content with how the media portrays the A's, no. Because that's what we're talking about here. The A's did something that is within their rights under their contract. They hardly did anything wrong here, but the media is making it out like it is.
@OakStadiumWatch@chiggin1@SandLot408 Not paying Treinen, Phegley and Profar prepared us to pay Chapman and Olson, who would see huge raises in their first year of arbitration.
That decision is now doubly important now.
@Jack_Dubyaa@OakStadiumWatch It's Fisher. Without a C.
And he has treated his employees right, that's why they got paid at all when no season is happening.
@OakStadiumWatch Yankee fans call the Steinberners cheap. Lets let that sink in for a second.
People LOVE to overreact about things, because that's the hot new thing to do. That's how you get attention from people.
For the record, I agree with the Yankee fans that say that, but my point stands.
@OakStadiumWatch And it's more naive to me to assume that if Fisher sells the A's it will be to an owner that will not immediately move the team out of Oakland because it's perceived as too hard to build a new stadium.
They'd be Portland or Las Vegas bound, and therefore dead on arrival.
@OakStadiumWatch And even that first person about A's fans wanting Fisher to sell isn't true, because for the longest time most of us didn't even know who the A's owner was. A lot of people assumed it was Wolff and bitched about HIM, Fisher wasn't even mentioned the majority of the time.
@OakStadiumWatch In any other decade this wouldn't have been a bad PR week, because it wouldn't have even been a story. It would have been reported as "A's deferring payments for stadium per contract" and that would have been it.
Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill.
@NateDBaker@OakStadiumWatch@SandLot408 GAP was probably going bankrupt BEFORE COVID-19 hit. Now that people can't visit department stores in person, and considering GAP wasn't great about their online store? There's no chance GAP is doing well.
