Yesterday, I filed a Zero FIR at Delhi Police Station against the Kuki terrorists who abducted and killed six innocent civilians from Manipur, including three women and three minors. These heinous acts deserve immediate capital punishment. The Indian law system must take swift action to maintain public trust.

That no prominent "Kuki" leaders - politicians, especially elected members of the #Manipur Legislative Assembly or intellectuals - condemn the heinous act of murdering women and children, including infant, in cold blood after taking them hostage and displaying the picture of those helpless women and children on social media, is very unfortunate!

Worst, when some of them justify and/or explain away such heinous criminal acts by the members of their own community as "retaliatory", it only reinforces some collective stereotypes which should have been otherwise consigned to the pages of history! The recent reports of mass poppy cultivation in the Kangpokpi district, particularly across over 500 acres in the hill ranges of villages like Songjang, Kotlen, Selsi, T. Waichong, Gelnal, Chalwa, and Govajang under the Waichong Sub-division along IT Road is deeply concerning and represent a blatant challenge to our government’s War on Drugs initiative.

Such activities not only undermine the well-being and future of our state but also pose a grave threat to our social fabric, economy, and environment. This illicit trade not only fuels organized crime but also causes widespread ecological damage, deforestation, and instability in our communities. We strongly condemn these activities and urge the government to take immediate action to eradicate the plantations and hold the perpetrators accountable.

No doubt, illegal Kuki immigration from #Myanmar and the illegal drug trade has fuelled tensions in Manipur, with DRUGLORDS opposing the 'War on Drugs' and declaring a 'War on the #Meiteis' for 16 months now - ethnically cleansing the Meiteis from Kuki areas in Manipur.

This highlights the urgent need to tackle the destructive impact of poppy cultivation.
