To uniformly sample points in a disk, you'd think you could just pick a random radius r ∈ [0,1] and a random angle θ ∈ [0,2π] to generate points r (cos θ, sin θ).

With USB4, DP2, HDMI2 new motherboards are coming and yet we are storage wise stuck to SATA3 and the slightly better SAS4. Bottleneck is drivers, controllers, type of storage (rotational or SSD) with rotational peaking at 180mb/s, less than of all the protocols.

Heat emanating from spinning hard drives is reason enough to switch to SSDs from HDDs in most laptop designs. Even at 2TB+ capacities there is little reason to not consider the heat over cost, even in rare laptop RAID setups.
