Brazil just approved a new law allowing shared custody of pets for separating couples.
This follows a growing trend in several U.S. states (including Alaska, California, Illinois, New Hampshire, and New York), where courts already consider the pet’s “best interests” and well-being in divorces, sometimes awarding joint custody or visitation. Brazil’s law builds on that same recognition that pets are family!

Update on the Beagle Bill (SB 381) 🐾
I want to share an update on the Beagle Bill, an important piece of bipartisan legislation to protect dogs and cats used in experimentation.
The bill passed the Pennsylvania Senate unanimously (50–0) and is currently awaiting action in the House Judiciary Committee, where it must be voted out before moving to the full House for consideration.
I will continue to monitor its progress and support efforts to move this important legislation forward so animals used in testing are treated humanely and given the opportunity for adoption whenever possible. 🐶🐾
