I have been at every home game this year. Will be at the rest. Our guys deserve a full stadium for the next one at Bobby Dodd. They could have folded the tents. They didn’t. Playing with heart! Let’s be there for them.
First grader Violet is making plans on her first day of school. And when we see her in a few years she could graduate 102 years after her great-grandfather.
Georgia Tech graduate and astronaut Eric Boe has been chosen to fly in the first-ever commercial space mission carrying people on board. He’s helped test the spacecraft that will be used with @Boeing and @SpaceX. 🚀| https://t.co/cE0Q2sGOHi
#1102archsound I think after taking this class, I will be more conscious of acoustic arenas within buildings. I have always been a fanatic of modern architecture so taking this new perspective might be even more fascinating. Who knows, maybe I might just switch majors.
@BradenColbert @laneefe#1102archsound Once the Kendeda Building proves its viability, others in the region will realize that a regenerative building is attainable. I think the KB may continue this trend in the area and hopefully it can launch the exponential growth of LBC certified buildings nationwide
#1102archsound Throughout class, I have always considered sound to be the only way to influence a soundscape. However, silence is also a critical player in the creation of space depending on what the intended purpose of the space might be. Architects should consider this too.
@laneefe @KendedaLBC @GeorgiaTech#1102archsound I think the use of windmill style sculptures would be a good use of space and might create beauty in and around the Kendeda Building. In this case, they would be able to provide the keynotes of the blade swoosh and also creating energy.
@KailaniTamisin That sounds like a great idea, but it would have to be designed in a way that it didn't negatively impact the other inhabitants of the roof top garden. The sounds might be off putting to birds or squirrels and drive them away. This would then completely disregard the equity petal
#1102archsound I find it interesting that acoustics vary depending on the style of music playing. Often, I consider any room that has any acoustic consideration one ideal for performance. However, the Thorvaldsen Museum disproves this because the acoustics only work for a choir.
@Elizabe63284026@laneefe That's a good point. Before I only considered the Kendeda Building as a space for students and professors. This game forced me to understand how the acoustic arena of the building will influence the community around the building. The community's stake should always be considered.
@laneefe#1102archsound We had a GTPD officer in the building arresting a robber. To him in a situation like an arrest, the reverberations in the atrium might inhibit his ability to command people in the area. This might contribute to an issue posed in terms of safety at the @KendedaLBC
#1102archsound Looking through the schematics of the KB left me in awe because the attention to detail and consideration for everything. Although that seems obvious, I wonder how difficult it was to integrate the traditional building codes and LBC's standards into one building.
@liz_a_mcg That's a good point, there's only so much information 3D renderings and VR simulations can provide. I wonder if sounds will pose an issue with equity when building is finally opening. If it is a problem, how will it be managed so that certification is still achievable?
@laneefe#1102archsound The keynotes of the Kendeda Building would serve as the soundmark considering that building aspires to be a community space that promotes equity. By having that busy buzz of regular activity, the space will be welcoming environment for all to enjoy.
As we welcome the presidents to the summit in Helsinki, we @hsfi want to remind them of the importance of free press. 300 billboards on the routes from the airport to the summit are filled with news headlines regarding presidents’ attitude towards the pressfreedom. #HELSINKI2018
