In economics, from my undergraduate days to my masterโs level, one principle stayed with me:
Money is a reward for value creation.
Not noise.
Not connections.
Not shortcuts.
Value.
That truth has been pressing on my heart lately.
After making enquiries about learning data analytics, I discovered something deeper than just the cost of the program. I discovered how much the world has changed.
Today, decisions are driven by data.
Businesses grow because of data.
Governments plan with data.
Opportunities go to people who can interpret data.
As someone with a background in economics, I realized that understanding data analytics is not just an extra skill. It is an extension of what I already studied. It sharpens thinking. It brings clarity. It turns theory into practical solutions.
Data analysis exposes you to the world.
It clears your reasoning.
It positions you for relevance.
If money is truly a reward for value creation, then the real question is this:
How valuable are you becoming?
I am choosing to increase my value.
To put myself together.
To learn.
To grow.
Everything will be fine. Lives will be tougher if you didn't discover yourself on time. Isaac
I introduced the Nigeria Religious Freedom and Accountability Act of 2026 with Rep. Chris Smith to confront the brutal persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
This legislation will hold radical Islamic terrorists accountable for murdering Christians for their faith in Jesus Christ.
I will never stop fighting for our persecuted brothers and sisters
INVEST IN YOUR SKILLS.
I'm not a motivational speaker but I'm someone that wants to grow so intentionally that's sometimes I doubt myself.
This is me sha
I'm not even trying to motivate you now, I'm sharing what I've personally experienced.
People are looking for that thing you have that you yourself think is small. I sincerely didn't know people could pay so much for just a skill, I realized this lately last year when a job I almost hv gotten disappeared, it's the right word, after the horrible screening and interview, a lady walk towards me and said if you had a professional data analysis skills aside my certificate and eloquent I would been given this job without an interview. That the MD ask them to employed a data skills analysis that would be the head of their department, @ that moment I know withing myself I hv mess up
I was thinking of saving this post because no one is coming to save you. I realized since then that Annotining without money is annoyance, and knowledge without a skills is a disease.
Why learning only data analytics tools is useless
I used to think if I just learned SQL, Python and Power BI, my life would change.
I thought once I could write queries and build dashboards, doors would open automatically.
But I started realizing something painful.
Knowing tools without understanding the problem is like holding a calculator in an exam where you donโt even understand the question.
You can press all the buttons you want.
You will still get the wrong answer.
As someone preparing to go fully into data analysis, this truth hit me hard.
Because in Nigeria, especially where I come from, we donโt have the luxury of learning for hype. We learn to survive. We learn to solve real problems.
Data analysis is not about beautiful dashboards.
It is about decisions.
Before touching SQL, before opening Python, before designing any chart, I now ask five simple questions.
What decision needs to be made?
If nobody needs to decide anything, then I am just playing with data.
Is it about who should get discounts?
Which product is draining money?
Why are customers leaving?
If there is no decision attached, I stop.
Who is making that decision?
There must be one human being who will act.
Not the team.
Not management.
A real person with a name and responsibility.
If nobody owns the decision, the analysis will die in a folder.
What does success mean in numbers?
Not vibes.
Not motivation.
Numbers.
Increase sales by 5 percent.
Reduce churn by 10 percent.
Cut delivery time by 2 days.
If we cannot measure it, we cannot improve it.
By when?
Time gives urgency.
This month.
Next 30 days.
This quarter.
Without a deadline, the problem becomes a discussion instead of a solution.
What will we do with the answer?
This one changed everything for me.
I force myself to finish this sentence:
If the data shows X, we will do Y.
If I cannot complete that sentence, I am not ready to analyze anything.
There is a big difference between:
Look at the customer data.
and
โWhich customers are likely to leave in the next 30 days so we can offer them targeted discounts and retain them?โ
The second one has direction.
It has action.
It has urgency.
That is real data work.
I am about to go into it,
I do not have all the tools yet.
Because I do not even have the laptop yet.
But I am training my mind to think in business problems, not just code.
Because at the end of the day, companies do not pay you for dashboards.
They pay you for clarity.
They pay you for decisions.
They pay you for impact.
And that is the kind of data analyst I am preparing to become. Isaac,is a young analystical economist, bsc and msc all in economic. In econometrics data is phenomenon why in research mythology is step by step.
