Transitions can be tough. Former military personnel Twahirwa faced trauma, alcohol abuse, and family conflicts during his transition to civilian life. Haguruka's Ingo z'Amahoro program empowered him and his wife by offering support and guidance to help them rebuild their lives and restore their relationship.

Today, Haguruka shared 7 years of impact from the Ingo z’Amahoro Program – Couples’ Dialogue Approach! The event brought together stakeholders from government, civil society, and partner organisations to reflect on the program’s achievements in @Gasabo_District and @MusanzeDistrict. @KvinnaKvinnaINT #bbenergyfoundation
In the last 7 years, the Ingo z’Amahoro program has reached 740 couples. Using innovative approaches, the program brings couples together, creating safe spaces for them to share experiences and learn from one another.
This has led to transformative change at both individual and community levels—fostering mindset shifts, building confidence, and harnessing positive community influences.
In her remarks, our Chairperson, Monique Munyankindi, reflected on the journey of the Ingo z’Amahoro program and the power of dialogue:
"Many couples arrived reluctant, unwilling to even sit together. But through dialogue, homework assignments, and a safe space, they began to open up, share, and listen to one another."
Our Guest of Honour, @MBatamuriza, Permanent Secretary @RwandaGender, emphasised that the Ingo z’Amahoro is a shining example of the transformative outcomes achieved when we invest in GBV prevention.
"I strongly recommend programs like these that put families at the center and leverage governments’ efforts to eliminate GBV and promote family well-being."
Today, we convened members of a coalition representing 16 women's rights organizations to validate our shadow report on Rwanda's UPR implementation regarding women’s rights.
The report assesses progress in implementing UPR recommendations, including gender equality, combating GBV, women's economic empowerment, and other related issues.
#ThrowbackThursday: Haguruka recently held graduation ceremonies for 350 rights holders from @MuhozaSector & Cyuve sectors @MusanzeDistrict, comprising couples, youth, members of women's safe spaces, and teen mothers, who completed a year-long program covering topics such as building peaceful families and GBV prevention and response.
This milestone represents a major contribution to fostering peaceful communities.
For over 30 years, Haguruka has championed the rights of women and children in Rwanda. As we continue celebrating #HumanRightsDay, let's delve deeper into our efforts to provide access to justice and protect rights. #OurRightsOurFuture
