Just walked ten 5th graders through setting up a blog using Google Meets and Blogger. I’m still reeling, but one student posted about the experience, “THAT WAS THE BEST”, so I guess it was ok. Part 2 on Thursday: personalizing your blog. Lord help me.
We are using @flipgrid for daily check-ins with our students. Over a MONTH worth of engagement between Ts and Ss. We love that we still get to interact “face to face”, keeping our #connections strong. #SEL@ISDFifthGrade@isdedu#ISDstrong
I introduced my 5th graders to number talks yesterday with @WODBMath. The conversations and reasoning were so great! Ss were so engaged and sustained their conversations. I was really impressed considering they had never done one before. @ISDFifthGrade@isdedu
Ss reflected on our community agreements and chose words that represented each statement. #reflecting on how we work together to build a healthy and happy community. #isd#G5
Ss wanted help resolving conflicts. We agreed as a G5 community to follow these steps while we work on practicing conflict resolution in small groups. I love that they decided what actions and language to use, and that we can have consistency across the grade. #isd#agency
The @isdedu 3rd graders put on an amazing Christmas market that focused on sustainability. They made responsible choices to limit their single use plastic waste throughout the process! #sustainable#christmas#WeAreISD#scrunchies
Such a great provocation! Teams of Ss worked as families to make a number of choices while factoring in the needs of their family. Love the unexpected discussions! “People hate babies on planes and at the cinema...so can’t do that!” #IBPYP#WeAreISD#sharingtheplanet
Grade 5 held a fun fair for younger ISD students & g5 parents. It was the culmination of a unit on simple machines. They used knowledge of levers, inclined planes, gears, pulleys & gears & axles to create their games. The games were innovative, colourful & fun! #WeAreISD@ibpyp
