“AI is not going anywhere” is a PR line from a gen AI company press release that’s trying to make their bad broken technology seem inevitable. It’s bullshit. Please stop repeating it.
I can't properly describe to anyone under the age of 30 just how cool the Internet was before Amazon, Google, Meta, and Apple turned it all into a walled garden of garbage and commerce.
still not quite over the fact that i watched 15 year olds get sued for millions of dollars for downloading twelve songs and now we all have to accept AI slop because every tech company in the known universe decided that IP laws don't exist now that they're inconvenient for them
I don’t want an AI summary of my Google search. I don’t want an AI summary of the text message from my friend at work. I don’t want an AI summary of the email I’m about to read. Please just stop.
We've got to the point where a player facing away from the ball and entirely focusing on impeding an opponent at a set-piece is considered "nothing". I give up.
Universities don't need to "teach students to use AI well." The whole point of AI is that it doesn't require any skill. Universities *should* teach students how to write and research on their own, and foster an ethic of shaming people who outsource their basic ability to think.
Citrus greening—invasive, from China—is the favored culprit.
But the Florida Orange got eaten alive by real estate developers, by globalization, by private equity, Wall Street, pesticides, and finally, yes, by the tiny Asian psyllid. Invasive species all.
Literally devastating news
And almost certainly even worse because the models don't include the effects of huge volumes of Greenland meltwater pouring into the North Atlantic at a rate of 30 million tonnes AN HOUR

This Pied-a-Terre Tax is a big deal- it’s long overdue and a great first step. 100 days before Mamdani was Mayor all we heard was taxing the rich like this was impossible. This is a great beginning.
The lopsided balance of power between capital and labour: the workers have no ability to refuse to wear the cameras which are training systems which will eventually replace the workers themselves
NEW: If Waymo gets its way, 2 million workers will be out of work.
When Waymo gets a firm hold on a city, wages go down. Some drivers now have to work 12 hours day, 7 days a week just to get by.
This isn't inevitable — but Big Tech is spending millions to make you think it is.
The Economist and Bloomberg also called the downing of fighter jets an “escalation” by Iran. Everyone knows you’re supposed to just let invading militaries bomb your universities and girls’ schools and apartment buildings and that shooting back is an act of unhinged aggression.
Ghana's new payments system is even more ambitious than Brazil's PIX. Public electronic payments are the new cash. And they can heighten competitive pressure on private banks & on the likes of VISA & MC.
