@imghelpinghand I am a medical doctor from Rwanda. I am interested in this initiative and have received an offer for the MRes in Tropical Health and Infectious Disease Research (laboratory-focused research pathway) at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine for the September intake this year.
@MidugiAlexis@JosephRyarasa@NewTimesRwanda Descriptive studies from Rwanda are important, but they are not the only source of evidence we can use. I hope you can respect my opinion.
@MidugiAlexis@JosephRyarasa@NewTimesRwanda However, I also think that analytical studies from other contexts can provide valuable insights and comparisons for our own situation.
@MidugiAlexis@JosephRyarasa@NewTimesRwanda I appreciate your perspective and your passion for our career. I agree that we should critically analyze research before making policy recommendations.
@MidugiAlexis@JosephRyarasa@NewTimesRwanda I disagree with your assumption that being one of the many medical professionals in Rwanda makes me less critical of baseless facts.
@MidugiAlexis@JosephRyarasa@NewTimesRwanda That’s why we’re lucky to have researchers like you in Rwanda who can conduct research and come up with evidence-based solutions. And everyone else will follow your lead, sir.
@MidugiAlexis@JosephRyarasa@NewTimesRwanda For example, in the past, antrectomy was the main treatment for gastric ulcers. Yet that idea was based only one Dr decision. But now the cure is PPI and other medications.
@MidugiAlexis@JosephRyarasa@NewTimesRwanda But there is still room for improvement. It is possible that you can disprove their findings by doing your own research on a small population, not all teenagers in Rwanda. And we will respect your scientific contribution.
@MidugiAlexis@JosephRyarasa@NewTimesRwanda Ok sir, good luck! You don’t have to doubt yourself. I’m pretty sure that doing research is not like enjoying a picnic. Researchers take their time to come up with feasible solutions.

@JosephRyarasa@MidugiAlexis@NewTimesRwanda Our president is wise and he doubts that this method is a solution to address the issue of unwanted pregnancy in teenagers. I also stand firmly as a professional doctor and I am not influenced by the emotions of social media influencers. I oppose that campaign.
@Dr_Amiel The effectiveness of condoms is 98%, which means that 2 out of 100 people can get pregnant in a year. Is this not a feasible method for contraception? Other methods that have higher effectiveness, such as 99.9%, also have added side effects.
