A new paper in the Environmental Impact Assessment Review journal investigates how vessel noise prior to pile driving at #OffshoreWind farm sites deters harbour porpoises from potential injury zones. Read the study here 👉 https://t.co/0xOr6IhDDh
It's been a year since 'Mar'verick, a satellite-tagged white-tailed eagle chick left Mar Lodge. We thought it would be interesting to share his movements. He's travelled far and wide visiting Arran, Ullapool, Mallaig and Fife but has concentrated his time in the north Cairngorms
Fantastic to get a golden #eagle on our trailcam. These birds are large, with a wingspan of 204-220cm and with females weighing in at 3.8-6.6kg. Eagles feed on live prey and carrion with typical prey species being rabbits, hares, grouse and seabirds (at coast).

It's always inspiring to see positive change in a landscape.
@JohnMuirTrust dug out this fascinating photo. By reducing grazing pressure from sheep & increasing deer management, native woodland along one of Scotland's best known glens is regenerating to a more natural state.
1/ As part of their #WomenInScience celebration, @CromartyLH are profiling Dr Karen Gardiner this week who carried out the first honours project at the University’s Lighthouse Field Station in 1989 – before the Field Station itself really existed! [continued]

The original beast from the east was pretty devastating for shags. Currently a 4 metre swell in the outer Forth which will prevent them feeding. As @Cramondbirder says please report any ringed birds #ornithology@_BTO@nature_scot
Celebrating #WomenInScience Day the #LighthouseCrew are excited to announce the launch of #LHScienceWomen. In 2021 we’ll be highlighting women that are a key part of the past-present-future research and teaching @CromartyLH - Watch this space!
