The level of violence shown towards police officers is shocking.

Within the first ten seconds of the video a man on the left is seen repeatedly punching a police officer in the head.

Sustained and hard.

While on the right a female police officer appears to have had her nose broken and has been punched to the ground, while attempting to carry out her duties as a police officer, and protect the innocent bystanders from apparently extremely violent suspects.

Yet the whole world has gone to pieces because a police officer appears to have kicked one of the suspects during the incident.

Some would say it is unacceptable to react with violence when attacked, and the police officer has been suspended pending investigation. Which is absolutely the right thing to do.

HOWEVER - let us rewind the indignation button and put this in perspective.

Three officers had already been badly injured BEFORE the alleged kick. BEFORE…

The CPS I hope will throw the book at the thugs who instigated the entire episode. I repeat - they Instigated it.

Let me be clear - officers do not rush around delivering kicks in heads to innocent people, they do not think it amusing to have to get physical - they do it because there is no choice and they have to use what means they have at hand to quell a bad situation. They know, as witnessed here, they may get hurt and as human beings, that’s not an option any of relish.

We should also perhaps bear in mind the officer who is purported to have delivered the blow had just witnessed three colleagues have the pulp beaten out of them by the thugs who were involved.

And yet - the media have thrown their hands up in horror, newscasters are editing the film to damn the police officer, because for reasons I still cannot fathom, they’ve seriously got it in the for the police at the moment, and the whole world has gone into meltdown.

CONTEXT PLEASE.

It’s no wonder our entire police force is suffering its lowest ebb yet, with moral on the floor and officers leaving the job in droves.

Who can blame them. They feel unsupported and unappreciated and it makes me so mad.

They go out and do their job and yes, sometimes it’s not pretty, and when they do (and no one is perfect, mistakes can be made in heated moments such as these), everyone shakes their head and tuts. Or worse still leaps into their cars to go and join a demonstration about a situation that has been severely edited to get just that reaction.

Please let common sense return to the British public. Let the thugs who attacked and battered, badly injuring three police officers who were doing their jobs, face the criminal justice they deserve, instead of being patted on the hand and fed cake.

The world has gone stark staring bonkers.

And breathe…..
