A team from @UNICEFKenya led by Deputy Representative Mahboob Bajwa, met Lamu Governor H.E. @GovernorTimamy today.
They discussed collaboration to address children's issues, including education, health, nutrition, water & sanitation and social & child protection in the county.

The team later visited Kerugoya School for the Deaf, where they met learners & agriprenuers practicing regenerative farming, who shared their experiences in agriculture.
The school is 1 of 56 in the county that have been transformed into agriculture & nutrition learning centers.
This week, UNICEF is participating in a 3-day workshop to enhance the implementation of Kenya's Integrated Early Childhood Development (ECD) & Nurturing Care Framework for ECD.
This brings together the Council of Governors, national government & representatives from 5 counties.
This week, the Cabinet Secretary for Health challenged the Development Partners in Health Kenya (DPHK) to break down silos and strengthen coordination for greater impactโespecially in the current context of funding constraints.
Attending the 4th Africa UN Food Systems Summit, where over 30 African countries convene to assess progress and mobilize investments. UNICEF underscores the urgent need to place children at the heart of Africaโs Food Systems Transformation.

The Nutrition Interagency Coordinating Committee (NICC) has endorsed Kenyaโs commitments for the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit 2025, set for 27th-28th March in Paris, France. The commitments, developed through a government-led consultative process, were validated by the Nutrition Technical Forum (NTF) on 17th February before NICCโs approval on 21st February in Nairobi.
Key focus areas include strengthening nutrition policies, reducing child wasting to below 4%, addressing diet-related non-communicable diseases, expanding school meal programs, enhancing nutrition-sensitive agriculture, and improving accountability systems.
These commitments reaffirm Kenyaโs dedication to eliminating malnutrition and achieving global nutrition targets by 2030, recognizing nutrition as vital to national development and economic growth.
