INVESTING IN DROUGHT RESILIENCE
Today, @NDMA_Kenya, in partnership with @KEPSA_KENYA, is hosting a Strategic Private Sector Forum on Drought Resilience & ASAL Investments.
The meeting brings together captains of industry, development partners and communities to unlock new investments in arid and semi-arid areas.
The conversation is shifting from responding to drought to investing in resilience.
Together, we can build stronger communities, stronger markets and a stronger economy.

The launch of the Mau Forest Complex Integrated Conservation and Livelihoods Improvement Programme featured a tree-planting exercise at Gacharage, Sirikwa Ward. @NDMA_Kenya has been allocated a 10-hectare block. Through the @EUinKenya-funded Dryland Climate Action for Community Drought Resilience (DCADR) Project, NDMA has contributed 60,000 tree seedlings to the restoration effort and is supporting similar tree-growing activities across 23 ASAL counties.
NDMA’s core mandate focuses on coordinating drought risk management and we recognise that drought resilience begins with healthy ecosystems. We remain committed to advancing the Presidential campaign to grow 15 billion trees by 2032, promoting climate-resilient livelihoods, and strengthening nature-based solutions that connect early warning, early action, and long-term resilience building.

The Board of Directors, Management, and Staff of the National Drought Management Authority join the nation in mourning the passing of the former Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, E.G.H.
We extend our deepest condolences to Mama Ida Odinga, the Odinga family, and the people of Kenya during this moment of profound national loss.
The Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga will be remembered as a visionary leader and statesman whose unwavering commitment to equity, justice, and inclusive development shaped our democratic and socio-economic landscape. His steadfast advocacy for the transformation of the Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs) inspired sustained investment in resilience, infrastructure, and livelihoods across regions long excluded from mainstream development.
During his tenure as Prime Minister, his leadership advanced national focus on drought risk management, social protection, and devolved governance - principles that continue to underpin NDMA’s mandate and Kenya’s resilience agenda today.
His legacy endures in the strengthened voice of ASAL communities in national planning and the enduring conviction that development must reach every Kenyan, in every region.
We honour his lifelong dedication to unity, inclusion, and progress for all.
🕊️ May his soul rest in eternal peace.🕊️

Risks, such as those posed by drought, are rarely confined within national borders. Thus, regional collaboration is essential in drought management. CEO @HaredAHassan presented Kenya’s 🇰🇪 resilience building progress during the 16th #IDDRSI Platform Steering Meeting in Entebbe.
