#AlfieUpdate: started another block of hydrotherapy. He worked extremely hard during the session and his sneaky double snack treat afterwards & chilled in the car on the way home. His efforts meant he had a lovely sleep and woke up in a happy mood. He loves his new training top.
#AlfieUpdate: small steps on his eating still. Appears to like the crunchy texture more than chocolate. He pulls a face when first biting the snack because it is completely strange for him. 5 days of retraining and he is doing fantastic for nil by mouth. Walking good too.
#AlfieUpdate: TrainingExercise: when life is just busy. Had my walking exercise to do today and completed 2.5km but included it in a ‘Rock Hunt’ with Coach Rory and #MrsMakaton . Lots of fun and I even got to keep the HeiHei rock too.
#AlfieUpdate: For over 7yrs Alfie’s mouth has just been a nonfunctional piece of his face; no food, drink or fluids have been safely put into his mouth as too dangerous for him. This past week he has been getting retrained to use his mouth more and having little amounts of food.
#AfieUpdate: #RunForThe97 only 5 days left to go before we do this event. The boys have their bespoke tops to wear and get the official top afterwards. Hopefully the weather will be nice and we can have some fun afterwards. Will post lots of photos of them doing it.
#AlfieUpdate: Our numbers, tops & medals have arrived ready for us to do the virtual event on the day. Got 2 little boys that have been training hard & are excited to be doing it again this year. Also have new bespoke training tops being printed for them & will be revealed soon.
@adamboxer1@MadeUpTeacher1 The assumption that better teaching/teachers impacts the number of SEND students isn’t a viable source of research/data correlation. Students SEND needs are not governed by simple quality of education, there are multiple factors that are intrinsically linked. Teaching being one.
#AlfieUpdate: well after a busy 4weeks with Alfie; appointments, exercising & fun adventures - I was sent this photograph after leaving the boys. Alfie in his play pit tired and waiting for me to join him. So I sent him a kiss & cuddle and message saying I was missing him too.
#AlfieUpdate: I’ve had a fabulous few weeks doing my exercises - walking in my frame longer, riding my bike longer & further and having extra hydrotherapy sessions to relax me on rest days. But most of all I’ve had lots of support (including my bossy brother Coach Rory).
Swimming/Hydrotherapy - floating mat; a load of plastic balls in a stitched net ( £400-£1900). I will make one myself and test it on me.
Writing/drawing/painting tools - £1000. My 3d printer made 10 smaller versions for a school (£10.00) that does the same thing.
#SENRant: ok not my usual post but as a retired teacher & grumpy grandad I am disgusted at the ‘Mark-Up’ on SEN equipment. Simple aides to improve quality of life/everyday tasks are over priced. Finding it very frustrating to calmly assess these prices. 2 examples to follow 1/2
#MoreHydrotherapy: Mummy managed to get another session in the pool today for me. Much needed after yesterday’s longest walk. I just lay on the floating ball mat, in the warm water and let the Old Fella do all the work. Feeling tired, so time to chill before tomorrow’s exercise.
#BeachWalk: went on a Rock Hunt with Coach Rory & the Old Fella.
Mrs Makaton organised it for the local kids and it was so much fun. The coast had a bit of wind so I had to wear my VIMTO beanie (thanks Josh) to keep me warm. In total I did 2.5km walking to/from the car.
#AlfieUpdate: ExtraHydrotherapySession just what I needed after yesterday’s hill walking. When your Mummy books an extra pool session and you love it; splash time followed by a proper relaxation. Almost put me to sleep but the Old Fella kept waking me up.
#AlfieUpdate: Coach Rory said we would be doing a nice easy sunny walk today - yeah right!! It was approximately 2km, so a bit shorter but no one said it was going to me hilly and bumpy - my little legs are very tired now. (1, 2, 3, 4 move it ringing in my ears from Coach Rory)
#AlfieUpdate: took the Old Fella for Another hydrotherapy session in the hospital pool - had the usual fun & giggles tiring him (and me) out. Took the Old Fella for a Costa
Afterwards whilst I had my feed. Looking forward to having a good sleep tonight.
}AlfieUpdate: since the surgical procedure last week he has had a few days rest. But yesterday we did a 2.2km walk in his frame by the beach - which tired him out. Today he did a 2km local bike ride in the sunshine and is now chilling in the garden with his iPad.
#AlfieUpdate: All went well for his Surgical Procedure yesterday but was a really long day for him. Grumpy faced in the elevator, bruised hard from the cannula to cuddles on the couch at home later - changed to iPad on the bed for more room. Has a sore throat and lost voice.
