میرے والد، سینیٹر اعجاز چوہدری گزشتہ تین سالوں سے ناحق قید کاٹ رہے ہیں۔ گزشتہ چند ہفتوں سے ان کی گرتی ہوئی صحت اور نقاہت صاف بتا رہی تھی کہ حالات ٹھیک نہیں ہیں۔ بڑی تگ و دو اور مشکل کے بعد ہم ان کا طبی معائنہ اور خون کے ٹیسٹ کروانے میں کامیاب ہوئے۔ معائنے میں یہ افسوسناک تشخیص ہوئی ہے کہ ان کے گردے شدید متاثر ہو چکے ہیں اور وہ اس وقت گردوں کے دائمی مرض (Chronic Kidney Disease (Stage 3) پر ہیں۔

وہ اور ان کے ساتھی اس وقت جیل میں کسمپرسی کی زندگی گزار رہے ہیں، جبکہ لاہور ہائی کورٹ میں ان کی اپیلیں اور سزاؤں کی معطلی کی درخواستیں لگنے کا نام ہی نہیں لے رہیں۔ اگر کبھی کیس سماعت کے لیے مقرر ہو بھی جائے، تو یا تو 'کاز لسٹ' منسوخ کر دی جاتی ہے یا پھر سرکاری وکلاء پیش نہیں ہوتے۔

ہمارا آئین ہر شہری کی جان و مال اور عزتِ نفس کے تحفظ کی ضمانت دیتا ہے۔ کیا ہم اس ملک کے شہری نہیں؟ کیا ہم پاکستانی نہیں ہیں؟

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.

I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.

It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC.
