@01wambugu@HiResAudioKe That before and after shot is exactly why this never gets old. A 2014 Ranger dash jumping straight into 2026. Few upgrades change the daily drive this much for this little money.
@FabSceneJp A CarPlay screen with no iPhone in the loop. This is exactly the kind of build that keeps the whole scene moving. Offline maps and live OBD2 data on one self made screen is something factory systems still get wrong. Curious how far the testing goes beyond the F PACE.
Question for anyone who did a digital cluster swap. What did you do with the original cluster. Keep it as a spare. Sell it. Or is it still sitting on a shelf.
@xtrons_ug Fast boot is the killer feature nobody talks about. Android units take forever to wake up. A Linux unit that is ready in seconds wins daily driving.
@DashboardMiami Repairing the original cluster is the right move here. A 612 keeps its value with factory dials. Digital swaps are cool but collectors pay for originality.
Before you buy any retrofit part, find the wiring diagram for your car. If you cannot read it, you are not ready to install it. The diagram is the difference between a clean install and a dashboard full of warning lights.
Wagons are the ultimate sleeper platform. All that cargo room swallows amps and a sub without giving anything away. Something this good looking deserves a cockpit to match.
@MotorTrend All this tech is impressive until it is five years old. Then it is the reason the car feels dated. The retrofit market exists because a good aftermarket screen can keep a ten year old car feeling current long after the factory software stops getting updates.
Bluetooth Classic is the right call for this. WiFi on an Android head unit always ends up fighting the phone hotspot and drops at the worst moment. The overlay is the smart part though. A separate buzzer box or tiny display never feels integrated. Running it all through the one screen is exactly how factory systems should have done it.
Swapping a digital cluster is the easy part. The part people forget is the mileage and VIN transfer. Get that step wrong and the car flags a tamper dot or throws errors forever. Always ask the seller how the mileage sync is handled before you pay.
@Timoldland This is where a good cluster retrofit still earns its keep. One screen in front of the driver doing the nav and gauges, and the big touchscreen doing music. Every job gets its own screen.
@andresvilarino@ViralRushX Looks slick in a demo. The real question is what the CAN gateway thinks about a wheel swap like that. Steering angle sensors and airbag modules usually want coding after a move like this.
@AudioJamInc Thanks for the kind words. To be clear I am just an enthusiast sharing garage notes here, not a seller, so dealer talks are not my call. Happy modding.
The best car interiors can be operated by feel at highway speed. If you have to look at a screen to change the temperature, the interface already failed.
Audi digging up the A2 name is brave. The original was ahead of its time and priced like it. A modern take with real range could finally make the idea work.

@atozukeya Pulling the MMI yourself is very doable. The trim tools and patience matter more than strength. Most scratches happen when people rush the clips.
@schorn_stephan@markusdd5@tuetmaennchen A 2006 Megane with a modern head unit is peak DIY. Those old dashboards come alive with CarPlay and a proper screen. How is the CAN integration holding up.
@LoveRaym67@reoindustries That is exactly it. Open tools keep independent shops alive and DIY drivers confident. Closed systems just tax everyone downstream.
