Nothing at all wrong with taking a job just for financial reasons, but people who are passionate about it consistently produce better results. This expands beyond software/hardware, too. I.e. for housework I try to always hire the people that are "weirdly" into their craft.

When I was replacing my garage door (a non-standard, oversized, very heavy door), I met with a few different people and one guy talked to me for an hour about all the different options for mounting garage doors. I just couldn't get him out of my garage he kept commenting on different aspects of garage doors for no reason at all. Despite being pretty annoying honestly, I hired him because he seemed weirdly into his craft and he did a perfect job, as expected.
