William Friedkin (@WilliamFriedkin) was one of the nicest film directors I had ever met. I briefly talked to him after a screening of "Killer Joe" in 2012. His films (The French Connection, The Exorcist) were hard-hitting, but he was kind and generous in person. Rest in peace.

@fuchsiadyke I had to attend several church services last month as I was visiting family. The pastor was super transphobic, and all I could think about was, "How dare he talk about my friends that way?" I just kept thinking about his words can give transphobes the OK to do horrible things.

@Xmiramira Try the chocolate meditation method:
1) Eat a piece of chocolate (Hershey's Kisses or Dove chocolate are my go-tos.)
2) Set a timer for 3 minutes and think of the sensations you're experiencing with the chocolate, like taste, smell, feeling on your tongue.
3) Do this once a day.
