Thai soldiers have reportedly fire smoke bombs, and used slingshots and air guns, during a standoff with Cambodian villagers who are trying to protect their homes in Prey Chan village, O Beichoan commune, Banteay Meanchey province, today September 17. At least 24 Cambodian people injured.
The incident, which took place this afternoon, caused injuries to several Cambodian civilians, including Buddhist monks and members of the armed forces stationed in the area. The wounded were immediately transported for urgent medical treatment.
This latest development marks a serious escalation along the Cambodia-Thailand border, drawing heightened concerns over repeated breaches of sovereignty and the safety of local communities.
Cambodia's Ministry of National Defense reports Thai military is evacuating civilians from Surin border areas tonight. Cambodia alleges this is in preparation for a planned offensive from Tamone Thom to Anseh, violating sovereignty.

Thailand is breaking the law.
This is a call for justice for Cambodia.
As a Cambodian, I strongly condemn Thailand's ongoing detention of 20 Cambodian soldiers captured after the recent ceasefire. International law, specifically the Geneva Conventions, mandates that prisoners of war be released "without delay" once hostilities cease.
Thailand's justification for holding them, citing "stabilization" or "investigation," directly violates this clear obligation. Such actions undermine the spirit of peace. We call on Thailand to immediately uphold its obligations under international law and send our soldiers home.

Two of our brave Cambodian soldiers have finally been released by the Thai army, one is badly wounded, the other suffers from trauma. But this is not over. Several more of our men remain unjustly held, their fate unknown.
They were not invaders. They were defenders. Defenders of our land. Of our people.
