Incomplete and flawed explanation. Here are key points to add:
1- Hamas often stated that it would hold elections and/or cede control to other parties. The primary obstacle to the fresh elections, most notably in 2017–18, was Israel, although other small disputes between Fatah and Hamas caused the polls to be thrown off. See here: https://t.co/dPqSXPnKjz & https://t.co/o2tVgxBta9
2- While Hamas was theoretically Gaza's sole government, it could not govern alone due to crippling international sanctions and isolation. Consequently, Hamas granted the Palestinian Authority (PA) extensive administrative power and near-total operational freedom. In practice, both factions co-managed the blockaded territory, with the PA simultaneously facilitating day-to-day operations across schools, universities, hospitals, and major civic sectors. 3- Since its initial formation conference in 2006 and others, Hamas has declared that its objective is to liberate occupied Palestine and build the necessary military infrastructure. Due to widespread disapproval of Fatah and other opposition groups, Hamas rose to power. It was always obvious that Hamas had no intention of becoming a genuinely ruling body and that it was willing to delegate power to any other party that was unanimously approved or elected, which almost never happened. Finally, the reporter's repetition of the "kidnapping of Israeli soldiers" is horrendously unacceptable.
the distance americans manufacture between their soldiers and the idf is entirely imaginary. occupation produces the same rituals of humiliation, cruelty and domination because that is what occupation requires.
@DebbieSchafer@yomgqashiyo Whataboutism is all they have. The truth is that, whatever anyone else does, the DA loves 2 things: Apartheid and Israeli Apartheid
While Egypt faced Argentina, the occupation assassinated the director of the Egyptian Committee in Gaza.
This world is not neutral, it conspires against every voice that says Palestine.
Past 7 days we learnt that the DA:
-Tony Leon is corrupt –John Steenhuisen
-Clean audit lost –Auditor General
-City of Cape Town perpetuates apartheid – Constitutional Court
-City of Cape Town maladministers funds to avoid delivering services to townships –Public Protector

That’s what they wanted; and still want, and will not stop.
I don’t know whether the world is truly aware or is deliberately turning a blind eye to what is happening right now in Gaza.
But this is exactly how they are planning the so called “New Gaza” they keep talking about.
They want to impose oppressive camps inside the city, disguised as fake natural reserves, surrounded by harsh barbed wire that prevents anyone from leaving as if they are caging an entire population inside iron enclosures under the sky.
This is the “future” they are planning: tightly sealed prisons, all under the name of reconstruction.
