@patroklov @girl_lestat I genuinely think the rise of otherkin/mediakin (aka “kinning” fictional characters) is a huge part of it that we don’t talk about enough 🤔 I definitely think it played a role in priming the terminally online mindset to accept treating fictional characters as real people

All noncon in fic/art is Consensual Nonconsent, but the consent is occurring between the SENTIENT PARTIES, the creator & consumer.

Fictional characters HAVE no real-world ability to give or withhold consent. Denying agency to actual humans is a far more dangerous precedent.
