BNN forever in our hearts 💕
An epic reunion to celebrate Andrew Bell and send him off into a well-earned retirement.
What we built in that newsroom transcends time and place. The friendships, the memories, and the bond we’ll always share. Grateful to have been part of it all.
@tylermeredith@dmacpher Would it hurt a politician to read the room and put out a 15 second video wishing everyone a happy long weekend while sipping a drink on a patio? I ain’t got time or interest in a tax history lesson today.
Traffic in Toronto this weekend was hot garbage, but at least this is helpful to explain why the city's two main arterial highways were shut. That said, I wish it had been posted sooner to show everyone what was going on.
DVP update: Today was another productive day.
Crews were able to complete:
➡️ Repairing guardrails, drainage structures and potholes
➡️ Clearing 160 catch basins
➡️ Removing debris and an additional 735 m² of graffiti
➡️ Repairing/Replacing 30 overhead signs
➡️ Clearing debris and winter road salt from 215 m of bridge expansion joints
We are moving into wrap-up activities, with the highway on track to reopen ahead of the Monday morning rush hour.
Thank you to our crew for ensuring this important work is completed.
Thank you, Toronto.
@Arda Genuinely gutted to hear this. Believe it or not, you were an inspiration for folks like myself, who saw how far you've come since writing some words for your student newspaper. Always happy to help in any way I can.
Andrew Bell, a legend of business-news broadcasting, announces he will retire on April 30, 2026. He'll be missed by viewers of @BNNBloomberg for his smarts, interview skills and good humour. I'm lucky though - as one of my best friends, I'll see lots of him in the future!
@harleyf@tobi The account was getting bombarded with negative posts and current students don’t use the account for tracking news etc. It wasn’t worth keeping active for the effort it was trying to maintain.
@richardwarnica I won't get into specifics but I recently turned down an editing role that strongly leaned on AI to compose a 'first draft' from interview transcripts + prompts. Felt a tad icky.
at some point in life you reach an age where you start hearing celebrities names and have no idea who they are and it just continues to happen for the rest of your life
This trade deal sees Chinese EV cars accounting for 3%-4% of all annual vehicle sales in Canada. I don't think it's going to cast a death knell for Ontario auto production. Time to let the free market decide what kind of manufacturing makes sense for consumer interests.
Canada agrees to cut its 100% tariff on Chinese EVs in return for lower duties on Canadian farm products, in a break with the U.S. https://t.co/jq3kddRdOD
Jays, which came within inches of beating an alltime great Dodgers team (and in many respects outplayed LA), are easily the best AL team now. Don’t @ me!
Loved this story by @JamesonBerkow on a burgeoning arm wrestling league. I only wish he did some first-person work on trying to compete in a match or two. https://t.co/vGksPHj7aj
