The problem is he’s likely right, but for the wrong reasons.
The skills required for entry-level roles is unequivocally shifting.
The shift is to core “human skills”, like teamwork, communication, critical thinking… the exact skills that have eroded with the traditional entry-level market candidates, Gen Z.
It will clearly rebound and mass labor market shifts will be short term, as this is just a monumental skills gap at a moment of rapid change.
If you talked with any university recruiter or anyone in HR (and not economists) who are on the frontlines of this mess, you’ll hear the truth behind what’s happening, and some of the accuracy in his statements… just wrong cause and effect.
