The Miss Americana documentary went from the scene of Taylor finding out she wasn’t nominated for a grammy for rep, and saying she would write a better record, to the scene of her writing ME! and being so proud of it, and you still have the AUDACITY to hate on Lover & ME!...bye🙄
teenage taylor choosing “our song” as the final track on her debut album because she thought the repeated ‘play it again’ might convince people to start the album over is actually hilarious. 😭
she wasn’t even old enough to vote and was already thinking about how to keep people listening and now, with her debut album turning twenty next week, i love that one of her earliest creative decisions was essentially finding a way to make the music never end. two decades later, we’re still pressing replay. she really knew what she was doing.
Seeing men already sharing this as proof that she lied about the whole thing and defending the rapists so clearly people need a reminder here.
This text is from October 21st. It wasn’t until November 8th she found out everything and reported the rape. It even says in this message she only addresses Jonathan and Matt because she initially agreed to a THREESOME. At this time she did not know about the group chat or that Johnathan was advertising her drugged and unconscious body to his 57 frat brothers. She even says in the first sentence her memory is still clouded.
Also the reason she says the gangbang rumors don’t matter is because at this time she was still under the impression she only had a THREESOME with Johnathan and Matt. To her the rest are rumors and it wasn’t until much later after she was the snapchats that she was finally able to piece it all together. Johnathan is apologizing for other men being in the room but makes no mention that they actually participated in the sex. She has no reason to think anything different at this moment. It isn’t until later that she realized what happened which we already heard in the call she had with Winston. TMZ releasing this is incredibly ignorant and they know it’s just hurting her more.
something about patient zero feels like walking back through taylor’s discography and realizing some of these stories have been speaking to each other all along.
the devil beneath the halo echoes cruel summer, his reflected light calls back to bejeweled, and another woman at his place feels like the betrayal buried in the great war.
being slowly destroyed by someone mirrors “killing me slow” in cruel summer. the dreamer becoming a ghost takes me all the way back to white horse. him charming everyone around you feels painfully familiar after all too well, even the fireworks that once felt romantic in sparks fly come back with an entirely different meaning.
it almost feels like patient zero is taking imagery that once represented love, desire and hope and showing us what those same things look like after the illusion wears off.
Florence Pugh calls on more men to speak out against violence on women in response to the Cornell University group sexual assault case:
“This is really the moment where we need our men to be as horrified and as sickened as us. You need to be leading conversations about how we change the allowance and complicity of this behaviour as much as we are. How can you expect us to trust that it's "not all men" when in moments like this, many of you stay quiet?”
@swiftinspires As much as I love tying things back to reputation, I think it’s just the font. 😭 All the other letters have that at the ends as well. (But idk maybe thats why she chose it🤷🏻♀️I think it’s pretty common for a headstone though)
Josh Gad speaks up about 7 men gang raping a woman at the Cornell University:
“When we start setting a precedent that our girls and women can be brutally raped, and the resulting disciplinary action is to hand out (checks notes) ESSAYS (like it's Bart Simpson being a lil' rascal), about why it was wrong to brutally violate an innocent girl, we have lost our fucking minds.
[...]
This isn't an Oopsie Daisy. It's the destruction of a life. And we are sending a profoundly disturbing message with our inability to hold anyone accountable that this is OK. Fuck that. Enough.”
On the *same day* the Cornell Seven drugged and raped Jane Doe, Cornell banned four students (including the President of Cornell @jvplive) from campus for three years for nonviolent, pro-Palestine protests. The same @Cornell officials let the rapists off with apology essays.
