@andrewbagala Hey Andrew, I see Incremental taxes are debated one day, but the next, @Parliament_Ug is issuing PAYE & tax waivers for specific companies (Items 4-7). What’s the criteria for these? Can an individual citizen also apply for such relief?
Bank of Uganda in collaboration with @IFADEastAfrica has launched an interactive remittance dashboard that sets a new benchmark for publicly available data on remittance markets.
Deputy Governor @ProfNuwagaba launched the dashboard today, saying “Remittances are a lifeline, they are more than statistics, they represent the sacrifices of Ugandans abroad who work to earn this money. They provide for families and households both formally and informally and have proven to be a sustainable source of foreign currency inflows, competing with other sources such as coffee and tourism, which supports our Balance of Payments.”
The new enhanced remittance data collection framework expands coverage to capture data from remittance service providers across the financial sector and includes more frequent transaction level reporting. This has helped capture significant remittance activity which was previously uncaptured, and Deputy Governor Nuwagaba called it “a fundamental achievement.”
@ssmusoke@KakandeAlex A non competitive bid is one that's below 200million Uganda shillings.. anything above 200million is competitive so the banks.. insurance and all those big investors are usually ones with competitive bids cos they usually submit more than 200million
