Dating app algorithms reinforce racial discrimination but they escape regulation because they don't 'use data on race', instead they are imbued with racialised ideas of beauty that give more chances of a match to white people.

Iโm really keen to know if or when @nextofficial are going to make the necessary switch from #plastic to paper. Having worked there itโs appalling to see how much plastic is used unnecessarily every day for literally no reason. HUGE impact on the #planet
I've been digitally "suspended" for a couple of months. Officially but briefly "reanimated" for this little philosophical piece about time and cryonic suspension. Based on an essay I wrote for my Masters. Enjoy๐งโโ๏ธ

Rather than allowing us to share the beauty of diverse global cultures, the internet can squander those beautiful cultures with โif it bleeds it leadsโ mentalities to newsfeed coverage. We must fight to have community perspectives at the heart of what we learn about the world.
I love the concept shared here. Everyone loves to engage on social media but platforms don't encourage positive engagement. The new idea is to create engagement that positively affects government, like a button "share with local representative".

In case you need a quick reminder why businesses, Governments and individuals need to rapidly come together to develop ethics policies for AI. https://t.co/jKwAbR2xCf
I learnt today from @WiredUK that the ibex goat is the first animal to go extinct twice. Isnโt that crazy. Scientists used DNA from the last goat when it died to splice its genes into a blank embryo. The baby lasted a few minutes before going extinct once more ๐คฏ
Not feeling confident this 'freedom' day is going to turn out well. I'm not abandoning my mask just yet. Who else thinks we'll end up with restrictions again..? ๐ค
I'm into the last 1,000 words of my dissertation. The pressure to write my best stuff yet is on. My question? How do AI experts construct the future. I'm looking at the rhetorical arguments that will shape the future of AI through actioning policy change and mobilising publics.
Loved watching this interview with @Google's Sundar Pichai - It's great to hear his shared concerns as well as excitement about the future of technology and its something he has clearly thought a lot about. I have to say, I still feel a little skeptical.

Super excited to see the Space tourism industry kick off this month with @virgingalactic on Sunday and @blueorigin on 20th! ๐
..They should do a public service and offer free tickets to Flat-Earthers ๐คฃ๐
Google are opting for privacy sandboxing soon, meaning we are identified as groups rather than individually tracked. But will it make a difference?
Lanier wants legislation that gives us ownership of our data and requires companies to pay us to store it.

Super interesting. I'm analysing talks about the future of AI for my thesis, and they use a lot of emotion and 'simple steps' to effect change in their 15-20 min talk. Loss of complexity as explained in this video.

In this new session #LIONSLive, CEO of @_futuremade, Tracey Follows explores the postnormal time we are living in and explains how she believes a radical system change will impact values and behaviours by 2030.

I love Tracey's work, its so exciting and provocative, I love to think about what's next and what that'll mean for how we think about ourselves and society. Great interview here and also great book! @future_of_you
Have we always had the fear that AI will steal our jobs?
Are there any early examples of predictions or sci-fi that represented AI as disruptive to our job market?
