Crying is the brain admitting the old map no longer works.

Jordan Peterson’s take is that tears dissolve the current conceptual structure back into a more plastic, child-like state so something new can be learned. It’s humiliating, which is why people resist it, but the breakdown is the signal that the old framework has failed. Once the new approach appears it is fragile, the first attempts will be clumsy. Punish those early tries and you kill the change before it can take root.

Most of us treat tears as pure emotion. They are also a neurological reset button.

The people who actually grow are the ones willing to let the old version of themselves dissolve long enough for a better one to form.

Tell that to the families of 12-year-old Candace Downing, who was prescribed Zoloft for test anxiety and shortly afterward hanged herself.

Or 13-year-old Matthew Miller, prescribed Zoloft after struggling with moving to a new city. 6 days later hanged himself in his closet.

Or my healthy 37-year-old husband, Woody, who was prescribed Zoloft for insomnia during an exciting new job. Five weeks later, he hanged himself in our garage.

None were depressed or had a history of depression.

These are not stories we get to simply dismiss because they complicate the claim that “Zoloft doesn’t make you kill.”

Suicide is violence against self. Homicide is violence against others.

And drug-induced agitation, akathisia, suicidality, hostility and behavioral changes have been concerns surrounding SSRIs for decades.

In my lawsuit against Pfizer, we obtained internal documents that had previously been under seal showing what the company knew and discussed about these risks.

And never forget: in 1991, the FDA convened an advisory committee on emergence of violence and suicide with Prozac,
the first SSRI approved in the U.S.

This difficult conversation is long overdue, and it did not begin with Lindsay Clancy.

Families have been asking these questions for decades.

The Clancy case is bringing them into the public spotlight. That matters. If we truly want to understand what went wrong and prevent future tragedies, we have to be willing to examine every contributing factor, including the medications and the current mental health “standard of care.”

Dismissing their role outright is not the path forward. Asking hard questions, following the evidence, and learning from what happened is.

🚨#BREAKING: A man who was driving home from work, found an elderly woman was FACE DOWN in the middle of the road in a puddle..

The man's name is Ryan Carter.

He was driving home from work in Martin County, Florida, when he saw something in the road that didn't look right.

It was an elderly woman. She'd hit a water-filled pothole with her walker and gone down face-first into it.

She was still strapped into the seat of her rolling walker. Face down. In the water.

Nobody else had stopped.

Ryan had recently taken a class on Florida's Good Samaritan law.

So before he touched her, he started recording on his glasses. Not for clout. To protect her, and to protect himself, so he could help her the right way.

Then he got down next to her and asked what she needed.

She couldn't move… and she still didn't want to be a burden to anybody. 💔

So he stayed calm, talked her through it, counted her down, and lifted her out from under her arms.

He got her seated. He pushed her away from the hole.

Then he told her he was going to get her a cup of water.

He drove her home himself.

Then he CALLED HER LATER to make sure she was okay.

"I saw somebody in a desperate situation, and I just wanted to be the hand that she could depend on."

When he got home, he mentioned it to his wife like it was nothing. She watched the footage and realized he hadn't just helped that woman... he may have saved her life.

Pitbull owners who can’t admit the breed has the highest attack rates (by far), are absolutely delusional. Out of a sample of about 500 humans killed by dogs in the US, 66% were caused by Pitbulls. Yes, you can own one that isn’t violent. But no, it’s not just bad owners they turn on. And yes there is a breed level issue where a higher % than other breeds just snap.

The breed is, by best estimates, 6-7% of the dog population yet they account for over 60% of human fatalities and horrible non-fatal injuries caused by dog attacks. Nice families who think they have a good one have ended up with dead kids way too many times.

If you want to risk it, fine but don’t pretend that they aren’t the most dangerous breed in the world. At least be honest about the risks.

A Canadian same-sex couple is suing their surrogate for $600,000 because she refused to abort their baby at 22 weeks over a cleft lip. A cleft lip.

Something they can fix with surgery.

They wanted a perfect little accessory, not an actual child.

She said no, they took the baby home anyway, and now two years later they’re coming after her for emotional distress because the kid wasn’t flawless enough for them?

This is what happens when you treat babies like designer products you can return or discard.
