@AffluentMist ๐ญ i don't but if you want a real solution w/o brushing in the am first, gargle with 50:50 peroxide and water as a mouthwash the night before when you brush. no morning breath.
I view milk and dairy in general as the cornerstone of a healthy diet. So, it was always a little weird reading about dairy from a TCM perspective because in most cases, they recommend reducing it a lot or cutting out completely (including plant alternatives)
Obvious there's a significant % of lactose intolerance amongst the Chinese population, compared to those of European descent. But even if you disregard that, the typical advice is still to cut down significantly.
The reasoning is that milk is:
a) Cooling
b) Increases dampness
c) Overworks the spleen
d) Can be heavy for the stomach, moreso in the context of (c)
A common psychological archetype that can exasperate the potential issues from dairy is that of the overthinker. The spleen works extra hard, loses its ability to draw qi from food, slows down digestion, causes bloating, and loose stools. When you add milk, things get worse.
Personally, I never experienced any weird side effects. They say that if you constitution and digestion are strong, milk is also a yin tonic, balances excessive yang, and it's great for building blood and transforming qi.
But I mostly drink sheep or goat milk! It's less straining and at room temperature, it can offset some of the overcooling effects.
