Thank you Naseeruddin Shah for frankly speaking about child marriage, especially the toll it takes on women's health. Decades after your grandmother had to experience this pain, 15 lakh girls continue to get married in India every year before they turn 18. The silver lining is that #ChildmarriageFreeIndia Campaign will reach the tipping point to end child marriage by 2030.

This child (now a young adult) in Coimbatore and her family are #RealHeroes. They have stood for justice and against the people who (allegedly) raped her.

This case is one amongst the majority of sexual abuse cases in which the victim is intimidated, threatened and many a times, paid hush money to change statement before the court.

A support person should be assigned to the victim and family as per the Supreme Court’s direction, and the survivor and her family should be given police protection.
