@sardesairajdeep This isn't a tweet from a journalist. It has all the flavours of being from a political rival. @sardesairajdeep just announced his political ambitions. Mark. My. Word!
One can say yesterday when Sardesai criticised, everybody said “even he did it.” But it was with dog-whistle kind intention. Today it’s out in his vlog — full blast, no filter — where he drags in 2024, paints the entire AI Impact Summit as one big Tamasha, and turns a single university’s cheap stunt into proof that Modi’s India can’t do anything right.
Bro, this is peak @sardesairajdeep . The man who spent the last three days at the same summit interviewing Amitabh Kant, Microsoft India chief, OpenAI economist, Hemant Taneja — asking softballs, nodding along, letting India Today milk every frame for views — suddenly drops a 18-minute “Straight Bat” vlog calling the whole thing a government-orchestrated spectacle. Galgotias flashed a Chinese robot dog and claimed it was “Made in India”? Embarrassing, yes. Deserves roasting? Absolutely. But turning one private uni’s optics-over-substance circus into “the government will move on to the next big tamasha” while the summit put real Indian AI talent, global CEOs, and PM-level announcements on the world stage?
That’s not journalism, that’s agenda on steroids.
He brings 2024 into it like clockwork — “students were tutored to shout for BJP before elections.” Bro, every campus has political naach-gaana before polls, left, right, centre. But only when it suits his narrative does Rajdeep remember to call it “zombified generation.”
The same Rajdeep who cries “anti-national” label when JNU/TISS/Jamia face heat for actual sloganeering and disruption now wants us to feel sorry for Galgotias? The hypocrisy is nuclear. Jamia student tells him “Sir, being from Jamia gets me called anti-national” and Sardesai nods like it’s the biggest tragedy. Galgotias embarrasses the country at a GOI event and suddenly it’s “higher education in race to the bottom, optics matter more than substance.” Selective tears only for the usual suspects.
And the real kicker? This is the same media house (India Today) that ran wall-to-wall coverage of the summit, hyped it as “India on the AI map,” and now their star anchor is out here calling it Tamasha because one stall went viral for the wrong reasons.
Yesterday’s tweets were the dog whistle — crowd chaos, Galgotias questions, subtle shade. Today the mask is off. Because god forbid India showcases anything positive without Rajdeep finding the “but” and stretching it into 18 minutes of whataboutery.
This is classic Sardesai 101: never let a good news story stay good. One Chinese dog = entire AI mission is fake. One private uni scam = all higher education under this government is optics.
Drag 2024 in to keep the “Modi divides, institutions suffer” script alive. Meanwhile the real Tamasha is watching a veteran journalist who once claimed to call it straight, now bending over backwards to prove “nothing good can come from this regime.”
Hard hitting enough? The man wants relevance so bad he’ll trash his own channel’s event coverage just to stay in the “principled critic” club. Straight bat? More like straight agenda. India is building Atmanirbhar AI, global majors are queuing up, startups are shining — and Rajdeep’s biggest takeaway is one robot dog and “next big tamasha.”
Chalo, at least the dog whistle is now a loudspeaker. We see you, Rajdeep. Loud and clear.

@sardesairajdeep You could’ve written “Rs 49k Cr” in your tweet, but in a bid to sensationalise the news and grab eyeballs, purposefully added zeros and zeros to it and ended up making it Rs 4.9L crores 🤦. And you advocate “news without the noise” in your TV show!
