Today, we're introducing Lassie and $47M in funding led by a16z.

We're building AI that runs small businesses, starting with doctors' offices.

Lassie is already trusted by 700+ practices across the country, working autonomously to provide them with 30 hours of labor per month.

To get here, we first had to leave Robinhood and Superhuman to work in offices ourselves.

The timeless principle of how to think about education (ai or not) is actually quite simple.

Starts with: what are you curious about? -> take action on that curiosity and build things -> learn to dm experts/founders in the thing you’re curious about -> get feedback and iterate -> share it with the world -> repeat and don’t stop.

AI makes every step of this faster.

Too much time is spent on using ai to learn or build projects with none of it interfacing with the real world or real people.

Young people that have this skill of high bias towards actioning curiosity and sharing it with the world will never need to worry about AI replacing them.

Going Founder Mode On Cancer

Sid Sijbrandij is a generational founder. He founded and led GitLab, one of the largest remote companies in the world, from idea-stage startup to NASDAQ-listed software giant.

But in 2022, a six centimeter mass growing from his upper spine threatened to end all of that. He had cancer.

What happened next is nothing short of remarkable. Sid went founder mode on his care journey. In the years since, he's deployed cutting-edge genomics to profile his disease. Based on this data, he's developed a growing armamentarium of personalized therapies.

As a result, his disease is now undetectable.

A simplistic version of this story could be, “Wow! A brilliant billionaire seemingly cured his cancer. Good for him!”

But as I’ve gotten to know Sid, it’s become abundantly clear to me that there is more to the story than that.

It has been an intense 48 hours for me and my team.

To be clear, I’m not going to apologize for making a harmless joke about hackathons smelling bad. I’ve been to 4 this year, they all smelled bad.

I do expect an apology from people like @deedydas, who I’ve had numerous positive interactions with. Instead of being charitable with me, giving me a simulacrum of grace, they dogpiled on me and facilitated more senseless violent and truly odious death threats against me, my family, and my team.

This is ridiculous, and it appears that with X being monetized, people are incentivized to rage bait and amplify senseless violent threats on this platform.

@elonmusk wasn’t the whole point of your twitter acquisition to LET us make jokes and have fun in peace? It appears it’s not working.
