Book 3 & 4 are amongst the greatest exploration of trauma, abuse & mental health I’ve ever seen in a children’s cartoon.
I can’t even believe they got away with some of the stuff they showed.
I am BEGGING YOU PEOPLE! Stop comparing everything to Korra S1!!
It’s like comparing The Mona Lisa to any other painting. Comparing Korra Season 1 isn’t even fair to ATTACK ON TITAN! Korra S1 had 15,000 drawings per episode! THIS SEASON LOOKS UNIQUELY GOOD!! You have no idea!
Avatar Korra was only 18 in 171 AG when she had Raava ripped out of her, re-fusing together shortly after: restarting the Avatar Cycle after ten thousand years, becoming the First Avatar in the new Cycle to come, after battling the Dark Avatar (her uncle & a newly freed Vaatu).
I’m not exaggerating when I say Legend of Korra is groundbreaking. For an animated television series targeted at kids and already had a great predecessor, it could have just been so cliche, yet it took genuinely bold and very creative decisions. A near perfect TV show!
and when Korra’s last words in seven havens are “sounds perfect” after Asami promises they’ll meet again in the spirit world once the cataclysm is over 🙂
The children’s play depicts this moment, where individual benders of all 4 elements captured Korra in this sphere and where she was held until she eventually died, which is what led to the long gap between her and Pavi/Neesha
