@TheGameVerse All of these patents all at once make me think most of them are going to be a reality and I am not a fan of that. I just want a controller with a good feel with a decent battery life. Everything else is just extra.

Do you even play video games? You sure talk about them a lot but I have this feeling you never actually play them.

90s and early 00s had some amazing games and shaped gaming for many but to act like modern gaming is just the worst thing in the world I feel is a bit extreme.

Sure, we have had some bad games but so has every era of gaming. This gen alone has had dozens of bangers, every year has something for everyone.

Not every game is meant to suck you in forever, or even make you do the most mundane tasks.

Just a week or so ago you were claiming that PlayStation had no games over the years. You may want to take a step back from gaming if this is really how you feel.

I am not saying gaming is perfect but it is far from that bad either.

I miss how 90s and 00s video games were built to leave an impression that lasts forever🚀

Meanwhile, modern games are meant to suck you in forever doing the most mundane and superficial activities, and playing as the most bland and uninspired characters just so they can be an easy self-insert.

Protagonists of retro games used to make us wanna be like them or enjoy the fantasy or escaping as them, or as a companion with them, unlike today, where they desperately built to sound like the lowest common denominator of us.

I genuinely miss everything retro gaming used to stand for, the design physiology, what they prioritize about gameplay, what types of worlds, stories and characters they wrote about, and how they’re shorter but much more concentrated, memorable and unique with every hour you play.

And they were also highly replayable, because that fun they had to offer, was something we wanted to try again.

Modern gaming, with its rising prices, potential elimination of physical media, predatory business practices, expensive hardware, on top of the inferior vision behind them that seems to prioritize everything but what what gamers love about games, are really not helping themselves.

No wonder the industry is collapsing, and maybe a full reset is long overdue.

A new patent describes tap-to-pay through a PlayStation controller. You hold your phone or card near the touchpad, the controller rumbles, and the purchase goes through.

No more typing a card number with the analog stick. No digging through PSN settings mid-hype.

Great for convenience, dangerous for impulse buys. One tap during a sale and your wallet’s GONE.

My guess is we’ll see this on a future DualSense or PS6.

In the last 48 hours, we have seen evidence that age verification does not work. Simply uploading a picture of your ID/credit card or anything else was never going to protect any user on your platform. On top of this, it has broken several times for users.

It should not be up to the government to protect users on the internet, that should be up to the parents.

Parental controls are a thing, parents are just too lazy to use them and control, infact discord has their own parental controls called FAMILY CENTER.

@Alyc0re That is totally fair, I feel game budgets should also come down. $400M per game is not sustainable in the long term.

As hardware just keeps going up across the board, I do feel that PS6 will land around $1199.99 I really hope I am wrong though..
