I am extremely disappointed at the inappropriate, plan to build a ten-storey student flat block on the former ABC site, in front of Glasgow's crowning architectural jewel, the Glasgow School of Art.
I am asking for the refusal of this application and urging for a revised design of reduced height that respects the architecture of Sauchiehall Street.
You can read my full statement of my reasons for objecting below.

A planning application has been made to demolish the Category B-listed façade of the former McCorquodale’s Printing Works on Maxwell Street.
They claim the façade is beyond viable repair. I am challenging this

The decision to allow the demolition of the M&S building on #OxfordStreet highlights the need to reform our planning system in favour of urban regeneration that promotes the #sustainable and environmentally responsible #reuse of historic buildings.

"There is still no national policy on embodied carbon emissions. It’s a broken model that incentivises demolition and it needs to change." SAVE director Henrietta Billings writes in @Arch_Today as M&S get permission to demolish their Oxford Street store: 👀https://t.co/GBhRszA9pC
This is infuriating and deeply sad. This is how the character of a city erodes away, building by building. It’s made all the worse by the replacement being a pile of trash and the glee of the company’s CEO to see it go.
What people are saying as they donate to the #SaveLiverpoolStreetStation fundraiser:
"This hideous and ridiculous development has to be stopped. The city of London planners need to get a grip and say NO to this madness."

Angela Rayner has given the go-ahead for the Marks and Spencer Art Deco building on Oxford Street, London to be demolished and turned into a characterless, dreary and environmentally wasteful rebuild. Architecturally elegant buildings like this should be adapted, not destroyed.

Look forward to finding out more about the proposal, especially to the south side of River Clyde. #CarltonPlace is in need of an energetic intervention following the tragic fire at the old hospice building. Probably need a bit more than a pedestrian route.
It is pretty cynical to tell people this 👀👇is made of plasterboard and plywood and is about to fall into Sauchiehall Street only to see contractors with jackhammers trying to demolish the grand arch while other are walking over the roof of the former #ABC#Glasgow cinema 😡🤷♂️!
The petition to safeguard #Scotland’s built heritage will be considered by @ScotGov tomorrow so signatures can still be added. Make sure your voice is heard 😉👍! 2/2

Calling #GlasgowHeritage folk 👋! If you don’t want to see the #ABC#Glasgow happening again please support @SAVEBrit’s campaign for minimum evidence and for councils to be able to call upon their own conservation accredited engineers in such scenarios 👀👇1/2
The old hospice on Carlton Place has been ruined in just 6 years. It has taken two fires in a year for the Council to start enforcement action. Could Merchant City inspire @NewGorbalsHA's masterplan for North Laurieston?

‘There are vast financial rewards if you demolish these old buildings and throw up brick student shoeboxes in their place. Their fate is often sealed on a golf course or the hospitality boxes of Parkhead and Ibrox: my newspaper article for The Herald https://t.co/v7zOzfT8G0

🚨URGENT DEADLINE // Yet more demolition threatened for Glasgow, this time the B-listed Hillhead Baptist Church. Object to this unsympathetic and unwelcome scheme by midnight on Friday 20th September. #saveglasgowsheritage
A developer wants to demolish the B-listed neo-classical Hillhead Baptist Church, built in 1883 by Thomas L. Watson, and replace it with a clunky block of flats.
The deadline to object is midnight on Friday.
