On this day exactly 1 year ago, we finished medical school and a few weeks later, preparation for induction started until…
A few months after our exams, we were told that only a few of us would be getting inducted because of the quota.
Yes, you’ve not been seeing my post lately. It’s not because the school has answered us, in fact, the school has not reached out to us since all these started and in my opinion, that’s some level of IRRESPONSIBILITY.
THEY CALLED OUR CRIES "SOCIAL MEDIA RUMORS"
We entered this institution in search of knowledge, and to gain it, we had to trust the school and its system. For eight years, we gave our all to learning and character development.
I’m almost speechless, at a time when we should fight for young doctors, we subject them to all types of terrible treatments.
I hope the authorities will take a look at this and find solutions to this ASAP because the junior classes are looking at this and they are panicking already.
This is not the COHS that we left and I wonder what exactly is happening to the once excellent school that trained us.
Unilorin and unnecessary excuses, this is 2026, for goodness’ sake.
Let’s even set aside the issue of the medical graduands for a moment. What about the Medical Laboratory Science students who are currently stuck as “hanging graduates,” uncertain about their academic and professional future?
These are students without carryovers, yet they are now facing an automatic extra year because of administrative negligence. For months and years, there have been repeated claims and reassurances about course accreditation, yet nothing tangible has changed. This is not a new issue, and it is certainly not something the school is unaware of till it got this bad.
Students who carefully planned their lives and career timelines are now forced into uncertainty. An entire year that should have been spent on externship and gaining professional experience is being lost.
Do you truly care about the students, or is the priority simply revenue generation? All you care for is to milk students and their parents by draining them financially just to increase the school’s IGR.
I finished the exams in one piece, my dad stayed in my hostel for most part of the exams catering to me.
It was that crazy!!
Months after the exams, I’m being torn into pieces.
Edakun, GET US INDUCTED!!
@UnilorinNGR@MDCNOfficial
8 years for a 6 year course, and 6 months after passing my final MB… no induction yet.
This experience has been exhausting and disappointing.
University of Ilorin has failed its medical graduates.
Nigeria has failed her medical graduates.
@enodamade@UnilorinNg should just give us an induction date, that's all we want to hear. All these are stories we have been hearing for like 5 months now. Free us and let us move on with our professional lives. This injustice has gone on for far too long
(out of 194 in class, about 175 passed which according to the school, were meant to qualify for 1st batch induction). It seems like a joke because how would you select 150 out of 175 for induction. Few days after the so called rumor, the school called a meeting with our class,
Imagine spending 9 years in medical school, passing your final exams, and then being told you can't be inducted because of "quota," while your mates start working
44 medical graduates are being held back from induction despite passing their MB exams. After spending nearly a decade in school, they’re facing an "automatic 1-year extra" due to quota issues.
175 students passed their MB, but the school only inducted 150 because of "quota." The remaining 25 (plus 19 resit students) were promised an induction weeks ago.
Fast forward to February, nothing. They’re essentially being forced into an extra year after already spending nearly a decade in school. No house job, no license, just waiting. 🤦🏾♂️.
This needs to be addressed!
MUST WE FRUSTRATE THESE YOUNG TO-BE DOCTORS EVERY TIME?
Dear @officialABAT, President of Nigeria.
We barely have barely have medical doctors in hospitals in Nigeria... why must prestigious medical students suffer like this?
UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN...
Can you allow these medical students graduate?
@MDCNOfficial@Wizarab10@oku_yungx@the_Lawrenz@Hybrid_Ola
We, the 44 affected MBBS graduates of the College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin, note the school’s press release. However, for over 6 months we have only received repeated assurances — first a 4–6 week promise, then a January date — none fulfilled.
