‘Designers must go way beyond simply rethinking how they make individual products.’ We need a #circulareconomy to tackle #plasticpollution & get to #netzero. @ellenmacarthur talks to @dezeen about circular design, innovation, and transforming the system:

Public procurement accounts for 15-20% of global GDP & sub-national governments make almost half of all purchasing decisions. To help cities adopt a #circulareconomy in their public spending, we’ve created a framework for government practitioners. Read 👉 https://t.co/JPBowVxFz6

"After all these years of work, the fact that we're seeing specific attention given to product and packaging design and how we can design out waste from the beginning is really massive."
World leaders from 175 countries have agreed to draw up a legally binding @UN treaty that will regulate plastic production and pollution on an international scale for the first time. https://t.co/oERtX9JhB4
The #UNEA adoption of a mandate to develop a legally binding @UN Treaty on plastic pollution is a historic moment, but is just the beginning. There were jubilations yesterday during the fifth session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA 5.2) when 175 nations endorsed a landmark resolution to address plastic pollution and forge a legally binding global plastics treaty by 2024.
Some positive news in an otherwise tough time in the world. After being #AllEyesOnUNEA, excited to see a #UN Treaty for a circular economy for plastics become reality soon & proud to see the work of @circulareconomy team & other NGOs, businesses and financial institutions pay off
Congratulations to all who worked tirelessly for this amazing result: as of today, we have a mandate to begin negotiations for a @UN Treaty on plastic pollution that can take us closer to the reality of a circular economy for plastics! #AllEyesOnUNEA

Bravo!! At #UNEA5 we have just gavelled the resolution paving the way for global action to #BeatPlasticPollution. The most important environmental deal since the Paris accord. The work starts now! Huge congratulations to Member States.
Governments are meeting for a final day at the @UN Environment Assembly tomorrow (2nd March). They have an unprecedented opportunity to negotiate a legally-binding treaty that tackles plastic pollution for good.
