I think agents became principals. Just another developer seat that we have to account for. They scale differently, and maximizing their outcome means introducing structures or elements to the system’s architecture that weren’t that needed before (mainly because of the feedback loops). Feels weird, though

we spent too long trying to figure out what agents mean for a consultancy. a lot of noise, not a lot of still ground.

where we landed: software engineering is more important than ever. agentic work is just another dimension you have to design for. faster isn't automatically cheaper.
