Virtual game cards just added a way to do so without having to give your whole account with the compromise of local wireless required + 14 day limit (old method STILL works tho!)

Switch cartridges are made in a way that if you don't use them for around 20 years, data gets erased (don't worry though, if by year 19 you put it even for just one second in a console that "timer" gets reset, but yeah, it wont be there forever)
