If life experience does not leave us with a deep regard for childlike innocence, respect for goodness, and a compassionate understanding of hardship, then such experience is worth nothing.
Sadly, many people never have to worry about whether their birthday is safe to use as a password, because no one remembers when it is.
Not everyone gets a surprise or a celebration on their birthday, but everyone should at least get one birthday wish. So whoever you are, if you happen to see this post on your birthday, here is my sincere birthday wish for you:
Happy birthday!
paris, 86 years apart: june 1940 and june 2026. on june 24, the city reached 40.6°C during a historic heatwave.
Come to think of it, if AC units started going up all over Paris, wouldn’t they ruin the look of the city’s historic buildings? I haven’t even made it there yet.

The US stock market extends its rally to a new high of the day.
hyper-independence is a trauma response. “nobody is coming to save you” is the belief people build to make sense of having had to survive their worst moments alone. when no one reached out to help them, it is only human for some of that pain to harden into coldness, resentment, and envy of those who were helped and able to grow because of it. beneath all that, their longing for warmth and kindness runs just as deep. if a stranger ever pulled them out of the abyss, they might be more likely than anyone else to break down emotionally.
“Nobody is coming to save you” but your day literally gets better after you consume art made by other people. You hang w friends & you’re no longer suicidal, even if just for a few minutes. They’re lying to you about the significance of community. People are saving you EVERYDAY!

Socialism worldwide has reached a point where earlier generations of revolutionaries would look at it today and think, “Wait! Did we lose back then ?”
One thing should give us pause: morality is often championed only when it can be weaponized.
When we draw on morality, how much of its force is directed toward improving ourselves? How much is directed against others?
