The decisions we have taken to reposition Nigeria’s oil and gas sector are beginning to bear fruit.
Since assuming office, I have signed a series of Presidential Directives and Executive Orders to make investment in Nigeria more competitive, reduce the cost and time required to develop projects, provide greater certainty to investors and ensure that our natural resources deliver greater value to our people.
One of those reforms introduced specific incentives to unlock onshore and shallow-water gas projects that had remained undeveloped for years.
Today, we are seeing the result.
AMNI International and TotalEnergies have taken an $800 million Final Investment Decision to develop the Ima Gas Field, discovered in 1973 and left underground for more than fifty years.
For Nigerians, this means work for our engineers, technicians and contractors. It means opportunities for Nigerian businesses, jobs and economic activity in our host communities, and more export earnings for our country.
AMNI, a Nigerian company, holds the majority interest in the project. Around 60% of the development workforce is expected to come from the host communities.
Ima is expected to produce about 350 million cubic feet of gas every day at peak and supply about one-third of the gas required for the expansion of Nigeria LNG.
This is what our reforms are intended to achieve, to move Nigeria’s resources from potential to production and translate them into jobs, incomes and opportunity for our people.
We have more to unlock.

Today in history, OONIRISA was warmly welcomed into the historic city of Oxford, England where he was received in grand style by the Mayor and Council👑🇬🇧.
He remains the first and only African monarch to have achieved this remarkable feat. A historic moment that further reflects the global recognition and reach of the Yoruba monarchy.
A moment for the history books👑🔥.
We are ready to break ground on the East Africa refinery in Lamu, a transformative project that will enhance the region’s energy security, deepen local value addition, create jobs and advance our industrialisation agenda.
Held talks with the President and CEO of Dangote Industries, @AlikoDangote, and the CEO of the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), Samaila Zubairu, on the sidelines of UNGA in New York, USA, to discuss the financing and final preparations for commencement of the project.
The refinery will unlock new economic opportunities, strengthen regional supply chains and position East Africa as a competitive energy and industrial hub.
We are focused on turning this landmark project into reality and delivering tangible benefits for the people of the region.
“In the next 3–4 years, I am going to invest $10 billion in power, but I am going to cancel my steel business. We Africans shouldn’t allow over 600 million of our people to sleep in darkness. This will be a major transformation for Africa.”
—Aliko Dangote
Here are 6 prominent world leaders who won’t be personally present at the 81st UNGA:
1. Bola Ahmed Tinubu , Nigeria 🤝 represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
2. Xi Jinping , China 🤝 represented by Vice President Han Zheng.
3. Vladimir Putin , Russia 🤝 represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
4. Giorgia Meloni , Italy 🤝 represented by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
5. Claudia Sheinbaum , Mexico 🤝 represented by Foreign Minister Roberto Velasco Álvarez.
6Friedrich Merz , Germany 🤝 Germany will be represented by its delegation.
So, no, Tinubu is certainly not the only major world leader skipping the 81st UNGA in person.🫶

Today, I celebrate the woman who has walked beside me with patience, grace and uncommon courage.
Àwọn àgbà sọ pé, “Ìyàwó rere ni adé ọkọ rẹ̀.” A good wife is her husband’s crown. The Book of Proverbs, which you know far better than I do, also speaks eloquently of the worth of a virtuous woman.
You have given these words true meaning in my life. You have stood by my side through every season.
The burdens that were mine to bear often found their way onto your shoulders. The thoughts I could not put into words somehow found their way to you.
In difficult times, when the future was uncertain, you stayed calm beside me and prayed with me.
Through all these years, you have remained the one who truly understands me.
More often than not, you sense when I need counsel before I ask. There have been nights when your presence alone was counsel enough.
I call you my truest friend and confidante because you speak the truth plainly, even on the days I would rather not hear it.
After a demanding day, you wait until we are alone before telling me what I need to hear. I have always cherished you for that honesty.
Our home bears the lasting imprint of your devotion. Our children and grandchildren have grown beneath the shelter of your prayers. They carry your values of faith and kindness wherever life takes them.
Nigerians know you for your compassion, kindness, generosity of spirit and steadfast faith. I have watched you touch lives quietly and consistently, offering hope and support to those in need.
From the New Era Foundation during our years in the saddle in Lagos to the Renewed Hope Initiative today, your care has reached many young boys and girls, widows, elderly citizens, and women farmers across the country.
Those affected by tuberculosis or any disease at all have found in you a compassionate advocate and a determined champion.
I know the prayers you offer for people whose names you may never know. I also know many whom you have helped without ever meeting them. For you, compassion has never recognised the boundaries of tribe, region or religion.
A long journey teaches a man the true value of a good partner. We have travelled a long road together. I think of the difficult decisions we talked through for hours and the sacrifices no one else saw. Laughter and prayer carried us through many of them.
If life returned me to the beginning, I would choose the same road that led me to you. Through every mile, my heart has always remained at home with you.
I thank you for the life we have built and the love that has held it together.
Happy 66th birthday, my darling Oluremi. I pray that God Almighty will grant you many more years in good health and joy.
May the years ahead bring you the same comfort and happiness you have so freely given to me and many others.
With all my love,
Bola Ahmed Tinubu

No President in Nigeria’s history has marketed Nigeria to the world quite like President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. 🇳🇬
The Chief Marketer of Nigeria, taking the country’s story, opportunities and potential to the global stage. 🫡🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
Tinubu go France go “chill” and one week later, Nigeria won a long standing international case at the ICC in Paris.
- $2.35bn potential claims saved
- 3000MW of electricity supply now in sight.
What a way to go “rest” in France.
