Worcestershire sauce is a fish sauce. The Lea & Perrins bottle reads distilled white vinegar, molasses, sugar, water, salt, onions, anchovies, garlic, cloves, tamarind extract, natural flavorings and chili pepper extract. The allergen line under it says contains anchovies.

The anchovies are salted and left to break down before they go in. Salt pulls the water out, and the fish enzymes digest the protein into amino acids. That's where the savory taste comes from, and it's the same process as a bottle of Thai fish sauce. Two chemists in Worcester, England mixed a batch in 1837, set it aside, and found 18 months later it had matured into something they could sell.

It's an easy one to miss if you're vegetarian or allergic to fish, because nothing on the front of the bottle says fish. Several brands make versions without anchovies and label them that way.

🤬🤬😤My wife takes her 2023 RAV4 to the dealership for a recall service. This was for an airflow sensor

After finishing they come out and tell her that her horn isn’t functioning and that it would be $145 to diagnose the issue + labor and parts to repair

Mind you she knows for a fact that the horn worked this morning

The techs specifically said “we checked all the connections and so it’s not that”

I told her to decline and bring it home

Mind you this is so unlikely to be anything other than a fuse or the fact that they unplugged it and forgot to plug it back in or worse, straight up scamming

After testing the fuse and the relay, as well as the clock spring, I take the radiator cover off to inspect the plugs at the horn and what do you know both horns are unplugged

The airflow sensor is nowhere near these plugs so there’s zero chance these were taken off as part of the job not to mention they said they “checked the plugs”

It’s also impossible they both happen to vibrate loose

Telling an eighty-year-old woman to "check the portal" for serious biopsy results is cruelty disguised as digital efficiency.

My 82-year-old aunt had a lung biopsy done two weeks ago.

The doctor told her they’d have the pathology report ready within five business days.

Friday afternoon rolled around. No call.
She dialed the clinic’s main desk, her voice shaking with anxiety.

The receptionist cut her off before she could finish explaining:

“Doctor doesn’t give results over the phone anymore. All lab findings are automatically released to your MyChart patient portal.”

My aunt said, “Sweetheart, I don’t have a computer. I have a landline on my kitchen wall. Can the doctor just tell me if I have cancer?”

The receptionist sighed into the receiver:
“It’s hospital network policy. We can’t bypass the portal. You’ll have to have a family member create an account and view the file.”

My aunt spent an entire seventy-two-hour weekend sitting in her recliner, gripping her reading glasses, convinced she was dying.

I drove out to her house on Monday morning, set up a profile on my laptop, and pulled up the records.

The result was benign.

The pathology report had been uploaded four days earlier.

A doctor spent three minutes clicking an upload button, and an elderly woman endured four days of sheer psychological terror because the hospital decided a phone call was too expensive.

During an interview following the shooting, the boy's mother, Deja Taylor, said he had a "disability."
